I wonder if there are differences during the manufacturing period? I ran my fingers all along the inside of my bearing ports and there was nothing for the right one to go through but solid metal.

I went to do the nose cone support mod yesterday as found here:

    http://www.gadgetonline.com/Tensioner.htm

However, it turns out that on the newer superchargers, there is no longer a bolt hole in the nose cone for the bracket as shown here:

Anybody know if I should be able to tap a hole in the nose cone where the old bolt hole used to be? I'm pretty sure the casting is the same except that they blocked off the hole.

What is the benefit of this? I don't see any reason to do this.

I don't actually know if there's a problem but it is just to unload the nose cone. It was part of the original design and it was deleted when they went to the dynamic tensioner.

Just read the the article and since you have a 2nd gen s/c there is no reason or need to do this. The first gen s/c didn't have have the support bracket on the side of the supercharger. The second gens were designed with the side bracket, there is no need for the front mount.

It's done to relieve the stress of the tension on the pulley pulling on the nose cone. Allows the pressure to be placed on the bracket, not the nose cone. A remenant of the URD days and not necessary at all but insurance for some.

Yep, I know what the intention is, but it really isnt doing anything to support the nose cone. The moment on the cone is sill the same since it is mounted at the vertex. Back in the day though with the grey top chargers it was supporting the whole s/c which was a very good idea. Now with a 2nd gen it really isnt necessary.

I thought so too at first, but the bracket bridges from the main body of the supercharger to the engine block. It is the curved portion of the bracket that supports the nose cone so it should still be effective.

Well yes it is actually. There is a sleeved bolt that puts the connection point about 2 or 3 inches back from the tip of the cone so it basically reduces the cantilever by the same amount.

I'm new to the Tacoma scene. Where would be the best place to get the SC for a 2004 tacoma V6. I live in california, but from what i was told all the trd SC are 50 state legal.

Suspension, 33s, some armor... Rust, Gray wire and 2Low, and more. T4r is stock.
The only way to get a true "TRD" SC is used. Toyota stopped producing them. I would suggest looking at this thread to start your search. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/3-4l-supercharger-is-back.393777/

Looking for a supercharger shaft or serviceable nose cone for my first gen (grey) charger. I must have scored/damaged the shaft when I pressed the bearings on because the front Viton seal keeps leaking (I've gone through 3 seals in 25K miles). I'm having a hell of a time finding a replacement shaft or nose cone, so if you've got any of those parts laying around, I would try to make it worth your while. Thanks!

Ps-PSE Superchargers will receive NONE of my business. I tried getting parts through them, but almost hung up the phone with the "information" they provided. A-holes.
