i could be wrong but isn't the super charger shaft for the GM 3.8 the same as the first gen taco charger?

That would be awesome, but the nose cone's I've seen look longer than the TRD.

I still haven't found a replacement 1st gen nose cone. I have one from a parts SC, but the shaft was broken so the PO welded the pulley to the shaft...lovely. I'm curious if TRD used the same shaft for the 1st and 4th gen SC's as I would be able able swap one over and make a complete 1st gen nose cone. Let me do some research and I'll get back to you.

Awesome write-up on the SC rebuild! I've been having a hissing noise around 2300 rpm's + in every gear. A too lean code came up. I found a vacuum leak on the intake manifold. Replaced the intake plenum gasket twice. Still a leak and still a light. Guess my questions are; do you know if the intake plenum gasket for the SC is the same as the regular stock gasket and also, have you ever heard of the SC or regular intake warping and needing to be re-surfaced? Thanks much

The intake gasket is the same. You can get the OEM gasket at the dealer for around $11 if I remember correctly. As for the warping; I would be surprised if something in there is warped to that point. I would check vacuum lines first and then go to the gasket.

Very nice write up! Pix are great. I took mine into the dealer and asked them to change the oil .... they were clueless ... so I didn't ask them to do it.
I have 100K on mine and never have changed the oil. I am wondering if you think that I could suck the old oil out with a small hose or bulb and replace it without removing the SC?

Black or tan SC? Black you can just suck the oil out and put in new oil no problem, no need for the dealership to charge you $100 to do it. If it's the tan sc then you have to completely remove the sc.

if it's not a vac hose and you've already changed the plenum gasket it's also possible it's a lower intake gasket

Hey folks, 1st time poster here, but I have tried searching high and low for this answer but I need help with removing the bearings at the back of the supercharger. I read that you can tap them out.......that failed on the first bearing I tried. It seems to be stuck on the back of the supercharger housing itself. Not to mention my dumbass punched out the back of the bearing while trying to tap it out.......so thats all jacked up for now.

Onto the second bearing where I tried pulling it out with a slide hammer.......the damn bearing will not budge what so ever.....

Any thoughts, suggestions. At this stage I am open to just about anything.

Thank you in advance for any help.

I used a press and they came right out. That one does marr the hole a little bit. I was worried it was gonna get stuck

Just wondering. So when pressing in the new needle bearings how do you know when to stop?

Also how did you get the rotor plate out, now I can't use the socket method like I did on the nose cone.
