3.4L TRD Supercharger rebuild

    TRD super charger, URD fuel mods and 2.1 super grip pully, Headers, 2.5" glass pack, Dana 60 front 4 linked, 14bolt rears on chev 63's, 5.38 gears, ARB locker in the front, PSC full hydraulic steering, 18" SAW 2.5" triple rate coils overs, FOA 2.5 air bumps, B&M launch controls, B&M trans cooler, 4 alpine 6X8 type R's amped, Red led rock lights, CBI front and rear bumpers (my design) CBI sliders, 4 riggid dualys front 2 in the rear, custom track bar, ARB snorkle, warn VR8000 winch, Viair 480c twin compressers..
    anyone ever loose a few #'s of boost. I don't drive my crawler much but last time i got in it and poured the coals to it and noticed it was pushing a few #'s less than it normally does. still runs like a raped ape though.

    around 7 max but i used to run 9 at my elevation 4,400 feet.

    Can be a number of things, pulley slipping, pulley worn, measure the inside diameter, bad or worn belt,
    vacuum leak, a bad By-Pass Actuator, Intake gasket leaking under supercharger

    Could it also be the weather? I've heard that if you live where it get's really hot (Southern CA or the desert, for instance), it'll affect the performance of the blower. The s/c likes cold air. Don't know if that would account for a "few" psi of boost but might be part of it.

    Yup methanol injection kit will lower supercharger temps by 100 degrees, each boost pound adds 10 degress, 10 pounds can add 90 degrees

    Anyone in here with the URD 7th injector kit ever see a P0420 'Catalyst system efficiency below threshold' code pop up before? Got my 7th installed a month ago and last weekend that code popped up on me. First thought was that I'm probably running too rich now but I don't have an AFR gauge yet to confirm, have one on order though. Just curious if anyone else has had this happen

    I don't think so, I've read that it's a pretty common code across the board but none of the accounts I've read of it happening to have been supercharged. In most N/A cases it's usually because a catalytic converter has gone bad, but they've been high mileage trucks (I'm only at 50k). I think I went from running super lean before adding the 7th injector to running super rich now that I have it on, and it's throwing off the AF/O2 sensor readings. Not really sure how I'm going to combat that though. URD makes an O2 sim that's really popular but that will definitely screw me on the smog test in CA (if the 7th injector doesn't do that already lol). Might have to look into calibrating the 7th.

    I had wondered if it was a belt problem so I changed it but it made no difference.

    I naively believed URD's claim that the "pre-loaded start up program is good for 99% of the trucks out there and almost never needs any additional tuning by the end user"...time to look into tuning it

    Definitely. Every truck with its supporting mods is going to be different, whether your truck is full on expo equipped with performance mods or 100% stock.

    I had mine tuned along with its install and absolutely no issues.

    Pardon my ignorance on the subject but how'd you'd go about tuning yours? I haven't done any research in how to tune it yet but I'll look into it.

    You can't tune it without a Wideband to know where you are at for each change.

    Got it, have one on order. Thanks guys.

    I reset the code again last night and after 60 miles of driving it's stayed off (when I reset it on the trail it came back on almost immediately). Looking like I need to tune this thing. Once I get my AFR gauge put on I'll tackle the tune.

    Hey guys. Just bought a rebuilt S/C.
    My truck has 240k miles. Everything runs well. Should i just install it or should i consider rebuilding the engine? Also plan on running it with thr stock pulley and no 7th injector for a while.

    Use the money you were considering doing an engine rebuild with and get the URD 7th injector kit. Rebuilt motor or not, if you're one of the many with a 3.4l that runs lean with the s/c you're going to regret not having it.
