3D scan the OEM part, cleanup the model in software, send to be printed in aluminum via DMLS?

Is it just me, or does it appear that you have to un-do the lines going to the direct injectors (if you go the 'taking the intake apart' method)?

I think I heard, but would have to confirm, that if you undo that line you're supposed to just replace the whole thing.
I suppose not worth looking up till I find myself in a situation where I'm replacing things, but worth mentioning for anyone currently looking to do the repair themselves.

Always best to double check, and go the extra mile while you're in there.
Probably a similar line of thinking to replacing the intake gasket anytime you take the intake manifold off.
Do you NEED to do it? Probably not, but it doesn't hurt either.

Just got mine fixed on a gen 3. 2016 127k miles. The dealer wanted 1,000 to fix. I got a qualified person to fix it for 350. I called corporate and fought for toyota to fix it was a no go. If in Georgia call Brady (404) 519-3528. He did an awesome job.

Where in GA is Brady? How did he go about fixing it? Drop the transmission or remove the intake manifold?

I had mine changed at 8k and they dropped the transmission. Said it was easier than taking apart the manifold. No leaks since then jumping on 16k.

I just had this done at the stealer and if it helps anyone with the parts list, this is what was listed on my invoice:

    16356-31051 - water bypass joint x1
    17176-31130 - gasket, air surge tan x1
    90301-05011 - o-ring x6
    23256-31010 - fuel injector o-ring x6
    23258-31020 - fuel injector o-ring x6
    17177-0P030 - intake manifold gasket x2
    Jug of coolant - x1
Fuel injectors are removed so recommend putting on new o-rings.

Total cost of parts for me in Canadian was $500, total job was $1600 cdn.
