Hey guys new here and new to tacomas,

A few months ago i bought a 01 double cab. It currently sits on bilstien shocks and has a 3" body lift and brand new 35's bfgs. I'm looking at relentless bumpers however getting them on will leave a 3" gap between bumper and grill. I want to remove the body lift as it doesn't seem practical for me anyway. I'm wondering if my 35's will still work as there brand new tires?

EDIT: added better pics to help. I appreciate all the help as this is all new to me and I'm mechanically illiterate.
    Any help will be appreciated

    No, 35s will rub BAD

I cut my firewall about 3" and welded in a new one to be able to clear 35s.

There is a lot of info in this thread and linked build threads

I missed the DB lift. If that's the case they will likely be fine

I can't tell in the photo but that's usually what 6" lifts are. Seems like a small chance of rubbing with one.

    Welcome to TW!!

Looks like the lift is raising the body to clear the tyres...

Thanks! Want to make it more usable I feel the 3" body lift doesn't do anything but add stress but dreading purchasing new tires again

Do you have a drop bracket lift on the front? Hard to tell from the pics

    jesus, 9" of lift?

One would have to assume it has a drop bracket lift, but to my knowledge, Bilstein doesn't make a 6" kit. So who knows what it has. Hopefully not the infamous Trailmaster.

@Jguardino it would be helpful to know what lift you have. bilstein is just the shocks, what's the lift? (pics of the front/rear suspension would help if you don't know the brand).

That doesn’t look like 9” of total lift. I’m betting the bilsteins are set at 3” plus the 3” body.

Ill look when I'm off work and take some photos of suspension. I appreciate the patience as I did not ask these questions when purchasing it and am learning as I go along.

That's a good point. That doesn't look like 9" total. OP posted that pic as I was typing my response.

OP: If that's the case, sell the brand new 35's, get some 33's, and revert to the 3" lift.

Awesome! Did you fab the brackets yourself? was there a lot of mounting points and brackets you had to make?
