Great stuff about lifts...I am hesitant to get my lift done after reading this. I basically don't know shit about suspension and all that...I want a lift with new tires for 2 reasons. 1. I do some offroading where I want better traction and more clearance. 2. I love how it looks. However-I do not want to risk the way it drives because getting to places where I need the offroad stuff involves a lot of highway driving. I will have Four Wheel Parts do everything for me if I decide to go for it. Will they be able to make sure my ride still drives like it should-like your's-you mentioned it drives even better now than stock.

NO!! They really don't know our trucks in depth!

    They know 4x4's in general.
They know about these lifts as far as installing them. But to tweak these trucks? (Hell some of them don't even install them correctly!)

Wether you go with a 3" lift or a 6" lift, they won't be able to diagnose any issues that may arise. (Maybe you'll be lucky, and there might be a tech that works extensively on Tacoma's? )

It took me over a year to figure out all the aspects of how each change affects the ride, and handling characteristics.
(And that's a year with the 3" , and a Year with the 6" lifts)
Both had there own issues. NONE of them worked ideally right out of the box!
It appears that they only do enough R&D just to make a lift that will do the job.
They don't work out all the bugs.
But for a lot of people that's good enough.

For me to explain everything, and all the little differences between different lift manufactures, would take way too long.

Just explaining these things takes up more time than I have.

IMHO! The ideal lift is: What is ideal to you!

-Some people may want a 3" lift, You may NOT!
-Some people may want a 6" lift, you may NOT!
-Some people may want a winch bumper , you may NOT!
-Some people may want sliders, you may NOT!
    etc.....
    etc.....
    etc.....

These forums are great resource for information. The issue you will encounter with a lift; more then likely has already been covered here, or on other forums.

Decide what you want "Sack up" and just do it!

As long as you are willing to accept the fact that building a 4x4 isn't a poor mans hobby. (No offense intended to anyone)
And you are aware that adding a lift, is just the tip of the iceberg.

If you run into problems or issues you need help with LMK? I'm always willing to help.

    Good Luck!

I can second all of Toku's advice, as I've ran both 3" and 6" setups. It's all personal choice, no one lift is perfect for everyone. Personally, I would do a 6" lift again, but I might change a few things. Take your time, do a ton of research, and figure out what would best suit your needs vs. costs.

Absolutely NOT! But the bigger tires will make it so he doesn't need to use the 4WD as much!

Abner I got all my stuff at 4 wheel Parts.. Installed there too. For the last 2 years that I have had the lift 4Wheel Parts has had a hell of a time figuring out alignment, rubbing, steering wheel shake, etc. Up until recently they finally got it right. I have been a customer of the Redondo Beach 4WP and they have a new service manager named Mike.... He finally got it right so if you live near ask for him! Great thing is about them is that its not a small mom and pops place thats gonna close down next week and they fix the issues at hand. IMO everywhere u go will have some kind of issue so dont expect it to go all that smooth.
