I dont think any MT tire is going to be your friend in ice/hard pack. They do well in the fluffy stuff, but I hear they suck balls on ice.

Pretty much any AT will outperform an MT on ice and snow pack. I have had my Cooper ST MAXX on since early December and have been very impressed with their ability in the snow. I would definitely recommend them as far as an AT. I have no personal experience with any MT tires so take my opinion with a grain of salt. Just passing along what Ive heard.

Look at the two trucks that had the MAXX yesterday... Just saying. @a.a.lee has the stt pros and they seemed to do alright in the snow and ice.

I'm not 100% sold on the ST Maxx yet. I feel mine might be wearing faster than my previous BFG KM2s. The traction on the street is great in icy and snow packed conditions. In last weeks ice storm I was rolling home without issues. They did well off road last summer.

Mine are wearing quickly but I think it's do to my rack going bad or possibly poor alignment since last time I went to get it aligned they told me my itr's were bad. They weren't.

Thanks for the input. Overall I'm learning towards an MT, but also have no experience and wanted some feedback from people who know the Colorado snow.

The most important thing is that they are better than my Terras and I'm definitely looking for more aggressive tread.

I have read great things about the KM2s in this forum...probably my third choice because what I've read and heard about lack of siping as compared to the trail grapplers and mt2s.

    Thanks!

Not sure exactly what you're asking here? With the tires?

It is such a happy hump day. Can you guess my good fortune?

Both spots were open when I got home from picking my test KO2.

I went and looked at all the tires we discussed here up @ 4 wheel parts in Westminster, except the cooper st Maxx's which they don't carry and after everything eventually landed on the BFG KO2 ATs instead of MTs based on collective feedback from @mountainmonkey, @Reh5108 and @aero3685.

Honestly, I liked the nitto ridge grapplers the best out of all of them. It had more aggressive sidewalls than the pro comps, similar to the mud and trail grapplers, and a really unique AT tread as compared to the KO2s and Duratracs. Unfortunately they don't make a ridge grappler for a 16" rim (yet?), and I'm just not interested in discussing 17s.

Now..I ask you all to just use you're imagination...
