Does it ? You still have to drive to and from
Dealer and wait or take shuttles etc. for basic maintenance it’s always easier and faster to do
    It at home.

Hand tightening is cute and I guess if they're strong enough they can hit 80 foot pounds no problem, but torque sticks are supposed to be standard kit at all Toyota dealerships.

Yeah, the repair manuals have some interesting procedures in them regarding steering wax wraps on 4Runners and tacos. Toyota calls for moving the engine, I don't think we've ever had to pull an engine to get a steering rack out. We've had to get cute with front diffs and a few other things but have always been able to cut about 8 hours of time off of those jobs

Are you a neurosurgeon or something?

I make $40 an hour and even if I worked double time overtime and took the truck into a mechanic I would be losing money every hour after I paid taxes etc.

$1000, $1100, $1200.... whatever the cost.... for some like me its RIDICULOUS to pay that much for some basic maintenance. Just the same as people paying $250,000 for a 70 year old 925 sq ft home. Or paying $7.00 for coffee at Starbucks. Its insane.

Everyone values time, but not at the expense of allowing price gouging. When does it end????..... when people start to refuse to pay these over inflated prices...

Unfortunately, for people like me, the masses are asses .... they drive things in this direction and allow themselves to be manipulated under the guise of saving time.... we all need to wake the hell up.... not just when it comes to paying for 30K mile service, but for everything. Were creating hell on earth.

At the rate things are going, in 10 years a 30k mile service will cost $3000. And there will be morons lined up to pay it... driving the price up even further.

Sorry all... to each their own.... this type of crap frustrates me... just like many things lately.

Agreed. It doesn't seem right to me.

$1100-$1500 seems like it should cover fluids, a serp belt, plugs, and new upper and lower radiator hoses. That would be what I would consider an OCD 7 year/70k service to reset the clock.

Canadian dollar isn’t worth as much and we get taxed to death as well.

Back in the 2005ish time frame a 30k mile service on a first gen tacoma was $459. It was the same service that is recommended now.

It was too expensive back then for me to pay $459. Just to put it onto perspective folks.. in 10-12 years you'll be paying $2000 -$2400 for the same service... how high is up?? Really?

Between inflation supply chain issues, a higher demand for services and a change in the fluids themselves. It does make sense at the cost is higher. Plus labor costs are up. However ... I don't think we'll be paying $2,400 for 30K service in just a few years as you claim.

    Mark it down.
    Wait and see.
$459 almost 20 years ago.. so figure on double what it is now in 15 or so years...

By then well all be forced into EVs and that will be a whole racquet of it's own.

I hope I can drive this truck for another 30 years. Lol

Given the [REDACTED] nature of our Lithium supply and it's supplier (85%), I'm betting in the interest of national security, the powers that be back off some or all of their EV target mandates and accept hybrids as a suitable substitute.

After all, the materials used for one model S battery and such can make the batteries for 8 Camry hybrids.

6-7k if Ive been towing or hard driving. Otherwise 9-11k . Made it to 200k that way with zero engine issues when I sold it.
