well, the only way my room mate would go for it is if he got a cheat day, only because he is in a kickball league (translation: drinking league) and their end of year party is august 20 something, and was already planned so he's gonna drink that night. i thought about taking a day near the end of month for labor day but i dont know if i will or not. if i do it will be the last day in august. so i'll just treat it like a 30 day month instead of 31. but like i said, we'll see

thats what i suggested at the beginning

i dont drink natty, but Jameson, Jager, and Goldschlagger and miller might feel a hit...

Ok so here's an update. me and my roomie and all our friends went out last night to celebrate our last night of debauchery. Here's a fun fact.... seeing how much booze you can drink before a certain deadline is RETARDED!!!

somehow at midnight i ended up in a cab by myself, we all got seprated somehow. i got the cabbie to take me to wendy's where i bought us both some food. then i went home and ate it and passed out. i have no idea how many shots i took, but i drank alot of good high gravity beer (11%), alot of cheap beer chugging, and alot of weird shots i've never heard of before. i stumbled into work around 12:45 and now i feel like i'm dying. But at least i went out with a bang.... a really expensive, sloppy, slurring, stumbling bang...

I'm disapointed in you. I already lost the bet. I had 7:30 AM on day 1. Thanks, for nothing.

I have a friend who did this for a whole year, because one night he and hes friends where very drunk and they slammed into a tree, he was copilot and didn't had the seat belt buckled, but they all came out safe... so he decided not to drink or smoke for a whole year, after the year was done, he organized a party, with a lot of booze, he passed out after three or four beers....

Before I place my bet, I'd like more info:

How many drinks, on average, do you consume per day?

i dont drink every day. but i can drink beer until i get to a point where it stops affecting me and i have to drink liquor. what made me decide to do this was the fact taht i can drink a full bottle of Jameson Irish Whiskey (750ml) while playing video games with friends in a matter of about 4 hours. i was hammered afterwards but i dranke the whole bottle in one sitting.

Maybe you are an alki, who knows. I know one of the traits of alkis is that they cannot drink in moderation. They can't have 2 drinks and call it quits for the night. Can you call it quits after 2 drinks?

yeah, thats never a problem. its not unusual for me to come home from work and drink a beer and follow up with any others. but i do binge drink every weekend and some weeknights and its costing me a fortune and killing my liver

proving your not an alchoholic by quiting cold turkey is not how it works.
its having one or two drinks at a time every day and being able to stop after that one or two that proves you dont have a drinking problem.

Why would you half-ass drinking? ;)

Good luck with it, man. You're an inspiration...for me to compensate for your lack of consumption. :proposetoast:

Please take this with a grain of Salt.

Go to some AA meeting wheil you are on the 3 day kick.
It might do you some good...

    I did and it helped.

I still drink, but I stop after 1 or 2 drinks. and just do it when I want to and not when forced to.

You do not have to stop, you just want to learn when you have had what you need.
1 bottle is not what you need. maybe a glass or a shot. or a few beers.

I think your next 31 days will be simple... you enjoy it.

thats not the issue, i can have a beer or two and stop with no problem, i just drink too much in general. i'm not in college anymore, i guess its time to slow down.

you're gonna have to drink ALOT tomake up for what i'm not drinking....

Ok, so that was my first booze free weekend in almost 6 years..... it wasn't so bad. i was bored out of my mind when i was sitting around watching TV but i got alot done. i got more done last weekend than i have any other weekend in a long time. plus, it forced me to go find other things to do. I saw "step brothers" on friday night, then went to dinner with friends and played putt putt on saturday. saturday afternoon i also went to clemson to check out a sail boat. then sunday i washed my truck and hung out with my family. and it was nice not feeling bad the whole weekend. i have a feeling the 30 days wont be too hard. i think when i do start drinking again i'm gonna cut back alot

oh yeah, i forgot to mention.... i added up my average booze costs (including bars and cab costs) and i should be saving about $300 to $400 this month, and i will probably lose weight
