I agree there's a difference in charging. It's so minuscule that it doesn't make a difference. I ran a winch & fridge (along w/an inverter & other little items) w/a shitty stock 80 amp alternator & never once had an issue in 5 years. That to me is rock solid evidence, from my true experience, that it's not enough of a difference to matter. Maybe it shaved off a few months of life from the battery, maybe not. As far as I know, that same battery is running the same items now (7 years total) w/out any issues. It was a 27F AGM from Autozone, so not even a top shelf 27F AGM.

FWIW, my 31M Diehard AGM battery ran fine for 6 years.

Is outgassing not an issue with this type of battery? I was always under the impression you should have a sealed box with an outside vent tube.

My 31M northstar is a sealed unit, so i dont think it would be an issue

The Slee battery terminals do a great job at fixing this problem, add attachment points, are beefier, and I didnt have to mess with the wiring

PC: Augustataco but I have the almost identical same setup

I only needed one for the hot side. Didn't end up using the other one. Might be able to find it in my parts bin if you were interested.

Correct, not an issue with the sealed batteries.

Nice! Does your backseat still fit and operate like before? Post a pic please of the distribution blocks or whatever you put where the battery used to live

I regularly winch with my 27F Northstar. I run a single battery with stock wiring and alt (130 amp). No complaints. Once in awhile, after a hard winch session (I'm a tree service guy), I'll get home and put the trickle charger on. It rarely ever needs any charge I do usually winch at around 2500 rpms, setting the revs with my hand throttle.

When my stock 27F shit the bed I got the Duralast AGM 24F because I needed AGM. Didn’t want to put more weight on my fender, still close to 50lb. Despite winching and a stereo no problems in 2 years. I used a diode to trick the alternator to raise voltage a bit though. Starts quick every time

Back seat works fine. It’s a tight fit which is why I made that tray.

I can’t find pictures of the front right now, but I cut two Blue Seas Powerbar 1000amp bus bars in half and reassembled to fit under the original cover for hot and ground. I used the portion of the bus with the 3/8” studs.
