Thanks for the tips on the break in. Did you change out your speed gear in the transfer case to correct for the speed difference? I've been trying to future out how many teeth different I'll end up needing to go

Got everything completely put back together yesterday afternoon and bumped up my CO's. Did some pinch weld modding as well. Tried messing w the brake lines but they're going to be a bitch so I'll put that on hold for now.

I took the truck out fur the first drive w the 4.88s still on my 31s. Definitely seen to go through gears quick. My mpg were up like 5 mpg in town driving. Nice having the extra torque. Hopefully get some tires here soon...

Truck looks great. Looking forward to whats next. You should start a build page and transfer your info over.

A gear swap is in the future but for now I must lift so I can "Kraw-de-Maw"

What kind of wheels are those you have. I really like them.

Thanks man. I've been meaning to update this thread in case anyone actually cares to follow it. I thought about doing a build page. I just didn't do to great of a job of documenting work done when I first got the truck. I'm running 15x8 American Racing ATX Teflon coated Mojave wheels. They're actually getting kind of old school. I think they've been around for over 15 years now. I still like them a lot. I bought them for my previous truck and kept them before I sold it to put them on this truck.

I'm hoping to do a LCE header, maybe full exhaust, this summer. Eventually HID retrofit, 4xInnovations sliders and Relentless WIY plate bumper as well.

Wheels are great. I like simple.

Obviously going through the process of doing the exhaust, I would recommend it for longevity sake. You'll also enjoy the new sound, I promise.

Sliders will definitely look good and are very functional (i like the 4xinnovations as well) and the front bumper is a must at some point. Your stock still looks good. mine is a little more beat up and rattling. I am leaning towards the AP apex right now, but I may see something else that strikes me. Just would like to see more pictures of bumpers on our 98-00 Tacos to make an educated decision.

What lift parts do you have?

You will LOVE that Lce header. Just did it to mine. Can I ask how much East Coast charged you for the front diff assembled? I also would like to do 4.88's

Good to hear about the header. Sounds like everyone is happy with it that I've read so far. Did you do a full exhaust at the same time or just the header?

The front diff I believe was $645 with the cv bushing. That included shipping to me but then another $40 to ship my core back to them.

Anyone know how much more rpm a 2.7 4 cyl will be turning with 4.88 gears and 265/75-15 tires ?? . I've got a 2002 double cab 2wd pre runner auto trans with 4.56 gears and the 4cylinder already has a TRD supercharger , Doug thorley header and K&N CAI

Just looking for more power to use effectively

Would that keep the 4 cylinder up in its power band better . I live near the San Bernardino mtn range and some of the mtn passes are steep

I had 4.56 w\ 37's and it was a little tougher to get going but the truck was way to F'n fast. I went down to 4:88's and it's even faster but the rpm randge is better and in still getting 13 mpg at full boost and 17 highway! my speedo is spot on also. I love the 4:88 set up.

Have you used a gear calculator? I used this one when I was deciding what gears to go with: http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html
Just plug in your numbers and compare side by side tire/gear combos. It was pretty accurate for my use. I think the auto trans code is A340E. Maybe someone can confirm this.

Based on running the numbers real quick for what you're describing, I'd go up to 5.29's. You'd still only be at 2950 rpm or so at 75mph. Right now I'm running my truck 75mph at 3200rpm and the motor does much better in this higher range with not much additional engine noise.
