I really like your trailer build. I am a debating on whether to build from scratch or buy a base trailer to build off of. How much would you say that you have invested in the basic structural metal? Could you post some specifics about the materials used (tube size/thickness, floor thickness, etc)? Would you say that it is necessary to get an axle with brakes or just a base hub? What are each of your electric lifters rated at?

I know, I have a lot of questions... and more to come...

    Pepsimankolt,

If you are a confident enought welder I would say build your own. One welds are much stronger if done right. And two you can build it exactly to what you want. I used 2x3 box tube .120 wall. With the recived and supports being the 2.5x2.5 recived box tube .25 thick. The floor is 11 gauge sheet. The walls and top are 1.5 square box tube .120 wall and 1x3 box tube .120 thick skinned in 14 gauge. This is very very heavy duty In my opinion but wanted it to be. But you do have to live with the weight. Mine topped out empty with tent and one battery at 2,134 lbs. I have about 1,100$ in metal for the thing for the structure. Add in tent rack, fenders, tire carrier, and other little bits and peices add 2-3 hundred to metal. The electric breaks on this is I think a must. I love them. Your not burning your breaks as bad and you have stopping power provided by the trailer. This Is nice in down hill roads because you don't have to worry as much about the trailer pushing you down or wanting to jack knife. Also good for trails for the same reason and for ledges. Along with the Saftey of breakaway breaks. And lastly the actuators are 20 inch travle actuators found on Amazon, they each move up to 220 lbs and do a good job at it. You just have to build in some slop because unless you wire each of them to there own switch they will start to to out of sequence. Easly solved by slotted top mounting points so when you hear the first pop pin pop you can stop and then just go around and lift the corners up the little bit tell those pop in. Or continue with the actuators if you want to but I have self destructed one of them collapsing the tent :( that way.

    Jake,

Cause I got a notification that you replied to the thread and just assumed I was the broken engineer. I'd feel better knowing someone else is the broken one though :fingerscrossed:
