I used regular oil in my 1999 Tacoma and it was still running very well at 240k. Even when it was -10 it would start right up every time, no hesitation. I'm going with Mobil1 for the new one regardless. I too would like to hit 350k miles, and that's not going to happen if I don't take good care of it.

No surprise, a testament to the Toyota quality. My wife's old Camry was well over 200k when we gave it to her mother, still running strong. My wife's "new" 2005 Camry is at 130k+ miles, still on the original brake pads, third set of tires.

I'm curious OP, did you ever replace the timing chain?

For a 7500 mile change, it will be about three quarters of a quart low when I change it, or a full quart low on a 10000 mile change. I do not add any makeup oil.

I disagree completely. I was using a tank a week in my drive to work and home( it was only once in to work and once home..85 miles one way ),along with everything else for errands and such. If you assume $3.50 a gallon, times 20 gallons...you're $70 a week right there.Times 52 weeks..$3640 a year. Add to that my motorcycle gas...at roughly $50 a weekend through the warmer months ( lets say April to October )..7 months..regardless of rain or shine..we ride. That's another $1400. So you're over $5k right there. If he does the same kind of mileage I do with the bike with his truck..the bike gets 33.5 MPG..my truck gets 18.5 MPG or so. I'll call it an even 20 MPG . SO..that'd be another 22.5 gallons of fuel PER weekend...90 gallons of fuel for the month times $3.50 per gallon...again times 52 weeks...$3780 . now we're closer to $9K a year in fuel. Alot of people have cabins or campsites that they go to on the weekends that are 2 or 3 hours away.

Edit : yes..I have too much time on my hands and my mind thinks this way...lol

No leaks. Just a slight seep on timing cover that I wash off every 6 months or so.

Dang, good for you to be able to put 13,400 miles on your bike just on the weekends. I struggle to put 6,000 on! Given your math, between your truck and your bike, you put about 30,500 miles / year on. OP still puts about 50% more on every year. This is why it's such an incredible feat!

Toyota should use you and your truck in a commercial. This is just plain awesome. Selling my problem free, rust free, pristine 95.5 at 160k is one of my biggest regrets in life.

Saw a Tundra that was a Lead Vehicle for wide loads 2 years ago, it was a 2007 4x4 Tundra with 720,000ish miles. The bed was beat to hell but reassured me how well built Toyotas are.

Are you sure the odometer was in miles and not KM? If it was in miles, it would equate to about 600 miles/day (5 days a week) over that 5 year time period of 2007 to when you saw it (2 years ago). Either way, still very impressive! That poor guy probably got killed on gas tho! :dancingbacon:
