3D Printing

Anybody in here do any 3D printing at home? If so, what kind of machine do you use? I just ordered one over the weekend, a Creality Ender 3 Pro...was a great deal for a beginner...I'm mainly gonna print nerd stuff. Been wanting to try this for a while.

What do you consider nerd stuff?

 

Star Wars helmets, props...superhero related items....basically anything that makes my wife roll her eyes.

 

Awesome. I’m looking to get a printer. I’m between the Ender 3 Pro and the Ender 5.

 

I'm pretty happy with my Ender 3 Pro

 

I have a couple printers now. A very heavily modified Anet A8 with a few of my own design parts, and upgrades to make it safe. Run off a PC power supply and a raspberry Pi. I just picked up an Anet A8 Plus as well. Both DIY kits, but the A8 Plus is miles better.

We also use some industrial printers for projects at work. Making molds for composite parts etc.

I can post some pics when I get home. A lot of things I print are rapid prototyping/ little models to paint, but I have also done some practical and final product prints.

 

I'm slowly selling my rc stuff off and have enough for a second printer....thinking about the CR-10 V2 so I can do helmets.

Thumbnail had me excited. Thought you found a way to 3D print some cheaper Tacks or something.

 

Haha, I wish! I have been thinking about what a proceduraly generated holder would look like though. Carbon nylon is strong enough to work.

 

Officially retired two weeks ago,
So I just picked up an Ender 3 Pro.
Just started to tinker with it.
Trying to learn a couple Cad programs and slicer software.
I'll stay busy for a while.

 

Ender 3 as well. Working on printing a bunch of upgrades to add noctua fans, RPI, and skr mini e3 board. Thoughts on cable chains?

 

Thought i'd bring this post back up....if i have to wear a mask, might has well have fun doing it, right?

I obviously need to do some finishing on some but the plan is to pull some boards off of the pallet wall in my theater room to make some box shelves to put the prints on.

 

What is the max build size for the Ender3? I want one now.

 

It's give or take an 8.5" cube.

For only $200, how can you afford not to?
