This mount is currently developed for a 1st gen, but I am looking for a 3rd brake light from a 2nd gen so we can get dimensions and draw up the design.

The story behind this is that I have a regular cab with limited roof real estate. I didn’t want to mount the antenna through the roof, but I didn’t want to degrade performance by mounting it lower on the bumper or on hood mounts. So, we use the two bolts that hold the 3rd brake light, and mount the antenna as high as possible, while interfering with as little as possible.

The mount will be made of stainless steel, with two laser cut gaskets. The thickness of the gasket will compensate for the thickness of the coax and will act to seal without leaking. This uses the 3/8" Laird NMO mount and will be included as part of the kit.

Curious who might be interested in something like this?

Make two brackets and we can mount pods on them but if not I’m still interested.

I’d say for White since these don’t have cargo lights

Agree, looks like a great product regardless if you do both tabs though. A lot of members have been wanting something like that

It’s designed for a HAM, UHF/VHF but I’m sure it would be easy to design a version that mounts a fire stick.

I was thinking for HAM and hang a firestick from the back of the bedside for CB.

The screws that go through the lens, only hold the lens on. I'm not sure what actually holds the light housing on. Glue?

Two long studs with 10mm nuts inside the cab under the headliner.

I bought an OE Brake Light housing and took my truck apart to confirm this. The two screws you can see only hold the lense on like you said.

At least on the first gen.... trying to get a 3rd brake light from a second gen truck to confirm.

I’m only 1200 miles away, can you make it here by 8? My time or course.

It’s dark and the coyotes are out, if I had the lights on the 3rd brake light to see I could

Touché but I had one and left it on the bumper and ended up running it over with one of the other trucks. If nobody posts a pic I can remove mine tomorrow once I get home

    What hasn't been modified?
I’d be interested in one. 2nd gen
I know it’s more design but have ya thought about 2 ham antennas, one on each side? That way ya can run coms and arps. Or even use the second antenna hole for a mount for a bed light.
