I’ve yet to see much data on the longevity of the 3.5L—I guess it’s only 6-7 years old. If you have one with over 200,000 miles please post your odo.

Most people buy a vehicle and just… drive it. They don’t come onto a forum like this and post about their mileage, can I fit 37s without rubbing, blah blah blah.

While engine issues are posted on here, they seem to be fairly minimal (knock on wood). That tells me that these trucks are generally as reliable as we expect from Toyota.

But no, I am not at 200k. Not even close. Maybe in 20 years!

I'm interested in why the pursuit...

I come from a 2003 Honda Pilot with 212K miles before some woman took the suicide lane and did not stop in time before she hit my Pilot.

It took over 16 years for me to get to over 200K miles...beginning in Hawaii where I bought my SUV.

I knew that Honda has a good reputation for longevity on their vehicles.

My belief is that Toyota is in that same category.

What is your intent to find out if owners have driven it over 200K miles?

As long as the scheduled maintenance is done and care is taken during ownership, what makes a vehicle reliable in your mind?

I went on reputation...and I sure do miss that 2003 Honda Pilot EX/DVD Leather that was a first year SUV based on the Acura MDX.

Curiosity to see how many people hit that number on such a relatively new Gen tacoma and also curious around reliability of the 3.5. That’s all.

I'm a believer in experience being the best teacher.

It's great to get testimonials from fellow owners...no qualms about that.

Apparently, what I have learned is, the engine in our 3rd Gen Tacos is from a Toyota van...or the Camry. Discussion about that have appeared on this board with humor directed about it.

There's many opinions about the Toyota 3.5L engine and its reliability. Same goes for the Honda engines. (I'm sticking with that brand since I come from a 2003 Pilot with over 200K miles)

An owner of a 2016 Tacoma with over 200K miles is probably rare. (I say this because it took me 16 years to put that many miles on my Pilot)

Current miles on my 2021 Sport, which I've had for about 17 months now is just over 14K. It's my daily driver vehicle and also my weekend errand runner.

I may have to view that link on this thread with a member who meets this criteria...over 200K miles on a 3rd Gen Tacoma.

I'm certain they did all the required maintenance to keep it healthy to reach such a milestone.
