    Anyone had a rebuild completed on a 4runner 3.4L ?

Considering buying a high mileage (250k area) 4runner for 2500-4000 but want to check on rebuild costs.

    Or just run it?

    Advice appreciated!

Engine rebuild for 5.8k-8k? Somebody is smoking the crack. You can buy a rebuilt motor for around 1k or probably have a shop rebuild yours for much cheaper.

Rebuilt my 99' supercharged engine. Around 4500 because I let the mechanic take his time, and i helped him out. My rebuild involved new hoses, new caskets (head gasket), and new headers because one shockingly cracked. Very fortunate the crack occurred on the top half of the engine. Buying a rebuilt engine is not the greatest idea. My mechanic has tried that on his car, and it blew. Put the money down, get some nice parts, and you'll have a car which ticks like a timex. Not to mention the power is very noticeably increased after the rebuild. Goodluck!
