I did this same setup with the $29 grommet outlet off Amazon. I cut the hole at exactly 3inches and was able to screw the unit into the 3 inch opening. No dremel or sanding was needed. Gave me a nice tight seal before I even screwed the back into place. Thanks for the write up. It made it super easy.

Very nice. One question, when you make-up the wire connections to the plug/outlet, were they inside the compartment? In other words, when you open the lid to the compartment, can you see the wires? Or, are they in between the rear wall of the compartment and the outside wall? (One wall?)

    Thanks so much.

Thanks! I was able to run the wires under the inside compartment, inside the center console piece. So no wires are visible when you lift the lid. It looks exactly like the pictures in the original post. The only difference was that I made a harness to make it plug and play so I didn't have to splice any wires. If you want to go that route, but don't know how, you can order one from @KTJO 4x4 or look at the thread at https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/t-harness-for-incab-120vac-tap-interest-list.604652/

I do not and wish I had a manual or something that tied systems and components to fuses, but if you have a multimeter you can test fuses for continuity. You can also visually inspect each fuse. Pain in the butt to do but better than pure guesswork.

Thank you for this post djembefola. Just finished putting in my new outlet. Watched one of the videos in the Google Search where the guy said the household outlets look “tacky”. Decided to make it extra tacky with the wall plate as well.

Damn you ain't joking. The good thing is it's down low in the back so nobody really sees it. You could always put a table lamp in the back to tie it all together.

Glad it worked out for you. This forum has helped me out so much over the years, I'm happy I was able to contribute.

You got me thinking though, maybe I'll re-work mine this weekend...

No, truck bed outlet still works. I wouldn’t put load on both at the same time, though.

Hey Guys, great thread and thanks for the install info. i did the anytime mod and 110v outlet. I was able to eliminate the large bulky converter box stored under the seat used to power laptops, etc. I needed the high speed Qualcomm 3.0 charger for phones so i couldn't use the outlet with usb like others used.

I found a 110v outlet with flip cover, and the QC3 charger. I used a license plate light to shed some light on it for night time use. Overall very happy about the 2 outlets and thankful to everyone for the instructions on how to wire it, i would have never been able to figure that out.

I hooked the light and outlet to come on with the ignition so yes, the light is on even in the day. tapped into the same outlet as in the center console.

Tw, I've done this mod and works great.

I've just bought a camry and it has the one cig outlet up front and I want to run a small freezer (2.7A) in the trunk and don't want the long extension running over the shifter, etc.

One question, I want to put an outlet behind the center console facing the back seats. Can I just tap into the existing outlet and be fine?

Probably one each of these since they just screw in from back.
