After adding the line out converter I still get periodic drops. Not as often but it still happens. The bigger issue is that the audio sounds terrible. In order for it to not sound so distorted i have to adjust the line out converter to almost nothing and at that point you almost have no audio at all. At this point I am figuring I have two choices. Either throw the OEM bad in or look into getting all new speakers, amp and woofer. It sucks becuase I do like the head unit, I just don’t know how much money I am willing to fork out for a whole new system.

I love this HU and might be upgrading to a vehicle soon. Sadly 2 of my top choices have the jbl HU which the consensus is, not worth the headache trying to adapt it?

Maybe I missed it it but were you ever able to confirm this to be working? Did you get the Car Solutions Anytime Front and Back Camera that is activated with double tapping the Mode button on the steering wheel?
Since it uses the same wire that goes into the entune and with canbus all steering wheel options seem to be retained, I would assume that this works.

Correct. I am still in the process of trying to figure it all out. So far I am 0-2.

    Hope it goes well!

A shame that Toyota decided to make the JBL both so underwhelming and troublesome to replace.

Yes it works with the Anytime Backup Camera kit(https://www.anytimebackupcamera.com/). I do not know if the Car Solutions kit will work but from what I gathered, it is only compatible with the Entune radio.

I have a 2nd gen with an android unit and the car solutions kit and it works great. I did have to modify one plug as shown in the photo.

I needed a voltage converter for the 2nd gen. I'm not sure if its needed on the 3rd gen.

    Nice!
I believe the camera on the 3rd gens are 12v so the voltage converter should not be needed.

    Yikes.

Did the no-load blow the transmitter transistors?

It's not a difficult fix, but sometimes on the pricey side.

Stop reading. Go trench your neighbor's yard. An idle truck is something something ...

so not sure if this was covered in the thread. I live in BC, Canada; our phone plans suck and data is limited and expensive. I have a few questions...

    1. Does android auto work through your phone, or through the headunit? I dont really want to get a sim card for this. If I connect to the headunit via bluetooth, will android auto work like any other OE radio?

    2. Since this plugs into the oe harness, would this still work with a plug and play speaker upgrade like OEAudio Plus? Or will this require me to piece together a set up.

    3. Will google maps work on the head unit without any data?

Android auto works through your phone and uses data from that. If data is a issue, you can download music onto a external hard drive and plug it into the headunit.

It should work with OEM upgrades

Google maps will work in "offline mode" You can download large sections of your city for offline use. I think after you have downloaded sections of your city, I think the search function will work. Otherwise you will need to get the actual address to find the location without data.

I basically don't care about the other android features on the radio. Laws are pretty strict here about device use while driving....biggest thing/only thing I really really want is android auto while retaining a factory look. Is there a way for the radio to automatically open android auto when it's connected to the phone? Can it connect to wifi?

there will be a ton of features on this thing that I'll probably never use.

If you have the zlink app opened, it will auto start android auto. The only time zlink will need to be re-opened is after a restart of the headunit, but that only happens if you dont drive the truck for a few days.

I feel the same as @5nahalf

I also figured out how to get the phone calls to be louder when using CarPlay. Just need to make sure you’re in Bluetooth first through the standard part of the radio, then enter CarPlay.

Question for others that have this unit..

Have you guys used the Car Info app that tracks your mpg? Mine seems to reset after every drive so I can’t compare the trips.
