Long story short, Bilstein just called to let me know they will be shipping out the updated 5100's for the front to me sometime next week. So if they haven't already, they should be on the market soon for anyone that cares.

It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
What changes have been made? Just stiffer valving on the front?

I'm interested in these. I had 5100's on a previous truck and I liked them. These stock Bilsteins are way too soft. I bottomed out the truck already.

Why did they call you? Is there a back story to this? I have been waiting on this news. I have a set of 16 springs in the garage and don't want to run the Hitachis.

There's a back story. I got 5100's as a gift from my dad. He looked up all the info on Bilstein's site and ordered what they said fit a 2016 through a local retailer. It just so happens, that for some reason, Bilstein had posted the 15' model info for the 16' for a few days in June, then pulled it down off their site.

I went to look up that what he got me to make sure they were the correct one's for my 16. Low and behold, they weren't listed the Bilstein site for a 16 and were for a 15. I called and spoke with someone and was told that they were not for the 16 and they they would not recommend running them for whatever reason. Then we got in a discussion about returning them to the retailer, but the retailer wouldn't take returns about 30 days, which 30 days had already passed. I asked if Bilstein would honor and exchange these once they were available since they goofed on their website, and after they checked into the stores policy, confirmed my receipt and photos that they were still new, they agreed to swap them out but said it would be a couple months.

Thursday I was emailed a return shipping call tag and dropped them off Friday morning. Once Bilstein receives mine, they will ship out the updated part. I could have had them charge my credit card, then refund the cost once they got mine back, but since I'm in no hurry, I shipped them mine first.

5100s aren't a great upgrade for a Tacoma. There are better shocks for a little more money
