Can you link where you got your whole setup front and rear? I know the 6112 comes with a coil so is that all you use? And how much lift front and rear does this give you? I was about to order the 5100 full kit with 885s and AAL. To get a slight lift and keep factor rake. But will the 6112 do this also?

Dude! No one is saying there's anything wrong with running 6112's designed for 2cd gens on a 3rd gen. Obviously it works and they're nice, if I had a '16 they would already be on my truck, but being that I have a '17 and Bilstein is saying they are releasing 3rd gen specific 6112's soon, I and others are likely to wait. If 3rd gen 6112's were available when you bought yours I doubt you would have bought 2cd gen ones just because they work and rock! Oh, and yes I do have experience with lifting Toyota trucks with Bilstein's. I currently own 4 / 4x4's and have owned 8 in my adult life. I'm guessing based on your post you have tried 5100's with stock coil, OME coils and 6112/5160's to compare!?!

Only 5110 on stock springs for a friend and 6112 on my truck. Just holding each of the 3 shocks tells you what you need to know. 6112 is excessive yes, but even on road the larger diameter body and valving makes for finer dampening adjustments. I just dont see where theres any real difference 2nd to 3rd gen. Likely only thing they will update is the stat sheet that says what lift you achieve on what clip setting

All four of those are for a sport because that's what you selected. 127 is the access cab it has 2 sets with or without fuel tank protection. (4x4 vs 4x2) The other two are for dc with or without fuel tank protect. (4x4 vs 4x2) different coils for different amount Tacoma lean.

Yet one shock to rule them all? And wrong again, they were the 6 v6 options because thats how their catalog is setup. All based on weight... and since the heaviest 2nd gen is heavier than the lightest 3rd gen, the "must redesign because 3rd gen" arguement is wrong.

There a total of 9 coils list on the page you attached. 6 in the top set and 3 in the bottom set. They are sold by individual side, wheel base length and fuel tank skid. I looked at all the models and these nine coils are the only ones available on this website in v6 and 4 cylinder. They must use the same coils across different setups unless the catalog is not complete.

But the spring weight per toytec is very different between gens. That's why a redesign of the 5100 and factory replacements are needed.

I found the notch setting to be interesting.
    0-2" of lift.
    1st notch=stock height
    2nd notch=.65"
    3rd notch=1.1"
    4th notch=1.55"
    5th notch=2"

I wonder if the intent is to keep the lift under a certain height so you can use the stock uca's?

@HeadStrong Off-Road maybe they will know.

It is probably more the fact of angles in general (front drive train) not specifically the uca's.

Guess i was wrong. Wonder why on a taller truck they would offer 1" less stroke than the 2015? 5.53" vs 4.64" is sizable.

Not sure. I told everyone a long time ago these were different, but didn't know how until now. I don't understand the science behind it. I may end up just using these and move one about my business.
