It has been a popular option especially with the valving being pretty much exactly the same and the travel being shorter.

I am leaning towards the 3rd gen 5100 all around. Setting the front for 2" and either getting an add a leaf or a 1" block for the rear.

I'm leaning towards the 3rd gen 5100's set at position 4 on my 2017 DCSB 4x4. Approximately 1.5" of lift sounds good to me. I don't do much if any off-roading. My 4x4 use is driving in snow at our cabin in the Sierra Nevada mountains. My only concern is how much rougher is my ride going to be with the 5100's set at that 4th setting......

Hey guys idk if this helps or not but heres my setup. I got everything from headstrong offroad and Marie was great to work with. I highly recommend giving her a call. She really knows her stuff and is more than happy to answer all the questions you could imagine. Here is my current setup. I have the 2nd gen 5100s set at 0 with OME 888 coils, driver side spacer for taco lean, the headstrong 3 leaf AAL, lights racing UCAs, toytec 1 inch diff drop (which i got from toytec), trd pro wheels, BFG KO2 275/70-17. I got right around 2 inches in the rear with the factory overload spring in and i got about 3 inches up front. Truck sits perfectly level now with 24 inches from the center of the wheel to the fender in all 4 corners

I haven't heard for sure. I would assume clip settings would be a must. From what I can tell the valving on the 5100's haven't changed if so not by much so I don't know if that would change at all.

I think I paid ~$150 for mine. What are other options for a little more money? I'd like to know, because the next step up seemed to be about $450-500 for non-adjustable stuff from Icon, or $1000+ for adjustable remote reservoir options. I guess this is only a "little" money, since that's a subjective term and can mean different things to different people. However, I wanted about 1" of lift in the front, and spending $150 for the 5100's seemed a better option than 1" blocks. Was there something that would give better performance in the $200-250 range?

this is the way to go if ur using any model 5100, i'm against compressing a spring just for the lift. get the right spring u need for your lift and then a shock to fit it..

On the 2nd Gen 5100 when you preloaded the coil on a 3rd gen at the 1. 75 notch did it actually give you approx. 1.75 in of lift?

Sub'd as i am trying to decide between the 2nd gen or 3rd gen Bilstein shocks .. all i am looking to do is raise the front a little bit to level it out (1-1.5") could i just use the 2nd gen 5100's with my stock coils and set the 5100's at the .85 setting .. would that likely raise my front and inch/inch and a half ?
.. if it matters i have the SR5 access cab 2.7

From the feedback I have received, people gain around the same amount of lift from the Bilsteins as what is spec'd out. So 0.85" would produce around 0.85" of lift. Now, since you have an access cab you may see a little bit more. Some times around 1/4" or so. Which would then put you around that 1" mark.

I have had many customers who have done so but I don't have a ton of feedback yet.

Thank you. I was just hoping to see if the notches give you the advertised heights of. The new 3rd gens. I was hoping to use the 2in notch and be sure to get an actual 2 inches out of it since I'm pretty sure I'll need it. I'd like to buy springs eventually but I'm trying find out what height I need by just using the 5100s first.
