For sure, pisses me off that I have to worry about this. I'm hoping to snag a spare here before I start taking trips this summer...

I wonder if it's not a faulty sensor, but maybe something else (poor heat shielding, etc.). How can they not be all over this!? Seems like the CPS failures continue to keep popping up on here weekly...

A few OE parts from fancy trucks

    Simple. Money and odds.

    1) Toyota really doesn't care much about what TW 'thinks'. Its a minuscule fraction of their sales. Even though TW is a form of social media, and the kids think social media rules the world, it really doesn't.

    2) If they are $100 each to replace (tow, part and labor) how many trucks are out there? How many have failed? Even if you only have to fix 1/2 of them you're $50 per unit total sales ahead over doing a full recall.

I may have missed it, but was 4/16 identified as the build timeframe the newer CPS went into new trucks?

Most? Perhaps. But some of the people on here give considerably better, faster, and more accurate diagnosis and advice than "red seal" master techs at some of the local shops. Just like some folks on German Shepherd forums were able to accurately diagnose my dog's problems (a few years ago) in ten minutes over the internet, while local vets failed.

Learning to distinguish the fine line between written bullshit and experience can be very useful.

True that... I had the same issue with my Shar-Pei he's now 15... he'd have died a long time ago if I took him back to my local vet. 5 minutes online and I found the problem and a VET that would TCO it. Still going to that VET even tho 90 mile trip and dog still alive.

Helps to have a bullshit meter and g@y-dar for those rare instances when sifting thru the noise.

Not sure I agree on point #1. I bet Toyota pays pretty close attention to what's happening on TW. It's a great way to get feedback on their product.

Yeah... I got a new one... installed it and carry the old one for spare.... 100Kms back in the bush is NOT a place for this piece of shit to quit...!!
And, if I run across a Taco that needs one, guess how much that "spare" will be worth in the bush...hehe.. Just kidding.!:canada:

It's a work in progress. See my build thread.
Yes I did. And that new one is going in this afternoon for its 20K service, and has had ZERO issues. That dealer screw-up was great for me.
