So recently my CAT has decided it doesn't want to be in the truck anymore. I've done a little bit of research and seen that AFE does make a CAT replacement for 2nd gens. Might be thinking about purchasing that and seeing if it does fit in the truck for 3rd gens. I compared the two CAT's just by looking at mine and seeing pictures of theres that they offer. Has anyone already taken the risk and done it or am I gonna be the risk taker lol

You might also try finding a 2nd gen replacement thats carb approved. There are a couple on rockauto for around 450 bucks. I am gonna have my 2nd gen midpipe off here in a few days to replace my cats and i can take pics & measurements for you to compare hangar and o2 sensor locations to see if theyre interchangeable

Update. AFE Power Catalytic Converter 2nd gen replacement does not work with 3rd gens. Bought it in hopes that it would be a direct fit (in which it does for 3rd gens) but it hangs too low and the CAT rests on the trans crossmember. TBH I could make it work but being California emissions and all, I decided to stay OEM.
If any of you 2nd gen owners want one, I do have one for sale at a discounted price.

Side note: It does give the truck a slight deeper tone along with the aFe Cat back exhaust.

I came across your video on youtube with the exhaust - and fell in love with the way it sounded. Just curious - why did you decide to get rid of it, and go back to stock?

Also in the video - did you have the headers/CAI installed as well? Or is it just the exhaust?

Got the exhaust initially and don’t get me wrong it’s an amazing exhaust! It is the best exhaust for these 4cyl platforms out there. Period. Eventually it just got loud for me and I wanted to change it out to get everything out of my oem audio plus. It became preference at the end of the day.

The video was just the cat back exhaust. I have the replacement cat from AFE that is made 05-15, it has some figment issues but does work and gives it a deeper tone. If anyone wants it I have it for sale.
