Can't imagine losing my house in a wildfire. Sad with all the memories left behind in the urgency to leave. We typically have insurance, as I do, but it doesn't replace those things that are unreplaceable. Looking at our wall of family pictures and imagining they are lost forever is reason enough to feel sad. I feel for @Cuffs and everyone else in Yosemite who lost all! It's sad.

    Seriously.

    Sorry about it @Cuffs

I'm in Sonora if you need a hand or help with anything.

I just can't imagine. Blowing my mind to think about losing my house. Keep safe.

We have friends in BC who are close to same thing, wildfires are out of control this year. I have 3 family friends evacuated from their homes, it's the worst in as many years as I can remember. So far so good, but wind could change everything in the next couple days.

When I was a young man my mom and dad's house was flooded twice. Devastation was pretty bad for hundreds. Some folks lost their lives. I'll never forget sifting through the mucky leftover mess. But our family came through it. We all go on.

So true! Going on is part of surviving. Although that sounds sad.

As we settle into some temporary digs, I keep those in other areas on my mind. CA, BC... as a first responder, it's not easy to just sit idle and watch things go down.

We saved what we could. (If I said this before, I apologize) we were supposed to leave this week for vacation. We were fully packed Sunday before the fire even started. Backpacking gear and travel gear. Just threw it in the tear drop. Bagged up whatever other sentimental stuff I saw and left. From what I'm hearing we barely got out.
The last remaining section of road closure in our area covers our address. Still can't get back there to see it ourselves... tears will probably fall when that time comes.

In some ways this has been made easier be the generosity of friends, TW included! And thinking of the other things we should have grabbed, makes it difficult. In the end, we know we are safe. We know we are fortunate in our preparations. We know we have great insurance. We just move forward as best we can. That's all we can do.

Friends are still waiting for the ok to go home, maybe today, but it's still unclear. Weather not cooperating, still sunny and hot. We need a few days of heavy rain up north!

Agreed! Stay off the wheel and do whatever you want everyday. Of course keep in mind that tomorrow you may be asked to make decisions that could affect others or your business, but for those making those, we use appropriate judgement. At least I hope!

Just so we are clear, I have ZERO tolerance drinking alcohol while driving. Others may have one of two drinks, but that's not me, not judging. Just sayin', what you do is your choice, but I've seen enough death, so zero is my maximum. My kids have had friends who have died, due to over drinking...sad!

Does this look ok? Said on the bottle it's seven years old. It tastes pretty damn good.

Went out twice and got skunked both times but scoped out some awesome new locations. Went out Thursday and it rained all morning on me. Beautiful lake tho. Saw a huge buck staring me down 20 yds away. I sat there for ten minutes admiring that guy.
