My driver side rear speaker quit working in my 2016 TRD Off RD. It has the JBL audio system. Anyone had any similar issues with speakers in the JBL system. I don’t turn my volume up enough to blow a speaker. When you adjust the volume to just the rear left speaker no sound comes out. I have never had just a speaker go bad so kind of seems like something else. Any ideas?

Yes just the rear driver side door speaker. It has no sound at all when you select just that channel on the stereo.

I had it at the dealer for some other things yesterday and they said replace the speaker, they weren’t really much help. I kind of feel like it’s something else also.

Only thing you can do is try, checking wiring/connection. Try swapping speaker from other side, to see if it is speaker. Good time for upgrading if it is. Remember those are 2 ohm speakers.

I read that about the 2 ohm I am having a hard time finding the replacement any ideas where to look. JBL site is a dead end.

Replacing the speaker would be the first step here. While you remove the speaker you can check for a loose connection, and ohm out the speaker to see if its shot.

What does ohm out the speaker mean?

Using a multimeter you will connect the probes to the positive and negative terminals on the speaker. It should read about 1.6 ohms - 2.3 ohms. If it doesnt read then the speaker is dead.

Check the wiring, I had one of my front speakers stop working, took the door panel off to inspect, speaker wire simply became dislodged, plugged back in, everything back to normal. The bass is set disproportionately on the JBL Tacomas, with the fronts having way too much in my opinion, ask me how I know, I believe this is the reason my speaker wire became disconnected. Over time it just worked it’s way out.

My drivers side rear speaker quit on me around Thanksgiving time. By Xmas the dealer replaced it under extended warranty. The receipt showed an $89 speaker from Toyota

I was wanting to get some input from everyone, on the inside of my doors, after I took the panels off there is water inside the door and ontop the speaker housing. I also removed the driver rear and it had water inside the door as well. Is this something to be concerned about? tacodoor1.jpg tacodoor2.jpg tacodoor3.jpg

That's normal, water gets in. There's no way to keep it out.
