Looking to add a kill switch to the fuel pump. The wiring might be 2022 specific, not sure, but thinking of putting a relay in line with the violet wire between the ECM and Fuel Pump Control Unit.

Pink wire - 20A switch only - no need for relay.

Pink wire with a switch is definitely the simple solution.

The purple wire with a relay is much more convenient for my plan. :)

Just want to make sure it will accomplish the same thing.

one is a control wire - the other is a power wire.

Sorry, want to make sure both options will prevent the vehicle from running.

Where is the Fuel Pump Control ECU Assembly located?

Thanks for the location info. A very low current switch for the Control wire FPC will do without a relay as caribe says, but a low current switch for the power might not last long. Don't know how much current this vehicle's fuel pump takes, but on some vehicles 5 Amps plus would not be out of the question, so some low current switch would not last for long. The fuse that feeds that circuit is 10 Amps which is shared with the injectors. I am thinking of a latching relay somewhere myself with a momentary switch somewhere. Only used when I'm leaving the vehicle somewhere suspect.

are we talking about that little box thats bolted inside the frame near the brake lines driver side? are people connecting switches at that endpoint or inside the driver side kick panel? just wondering how keen these thieves are that they'll notice wires that aren't stock or know the common kill points owners use

I'd like to know too. Thinking a simple toggle switch run through the pink wire would be best for me

Yes, that is the box. I believe people are deliberately silent as to just what they are doing. The Pink wire never enters the truck cab.

The connectors EB1 & EB2 shown in the first post are located at the engine fuse box, not the driver's side kick panel. Don't know where the connector IA4 is located with the Purple wire routes, perhaps the kick panel?

That Purple wire on IA4 has to get from the engine fuse box to the Engine Control Module ECU, which I believe is located behind the glove box. Not verified.

Does disabling the fuel pump throw warning lights? ie: If you forget to re-enable will a bunch of errors show up when dealer connects a code reader?

I certainly hope so, if a thief encounters a bunch of flashing lights on the dash that should tell him/her they don't know their craft well and to get lost.

So far in my experience with my vehicle and all the testing and disconnecting of modules has not produced any lasting effect to either the truck or the codes stored. It seems all temporary codes disappear after so many Start cycles, if they ever enter memory at all.

I've got an question about wiring a kill switch into the starter instead of the fuel pump.

Based on the diagrams I've been looking at here, https://www.ttguide.net/engine_does_not_start-914.html

Would I be able to splice a 20A switch into the C27 harness in the Smart Key ECU, into either wires 10 or 12 as they are in the starter wiring sequence?

I'm trying to minimize the amount of cuts/splicing and keep the addition as seamless as possible. I've seen this forum talk about the pink wire in the Fuel Pump ECU; however that's located outside the cab and I wanted to try and simplify the modification by just having a toggle switch either permit the starter sequence from initiating or not receiving power/signal.

Does this make sense or have I not understood something correctly here?

@ArmyGreenTaco6 I can't comment on all your research into the Starter disable you have been looking into, but there are three wires to the Fuel Pump control. A Pink wire that supplies power directly from the engine compartment via the 20Amp EFI No.2 fuse, (Edit:10 Amp INJ fuse was my error reading the schematic), the White/Black wire that is ground that I presume also does not enter the cab AND a Violet wire that goes to the Engine ECU. It is my understanding the Engine ECU is in the cab of the truck. Perhaps you might want to look into that aspect. It seems you have access to Toyota's online manuals, take a look. I would be interested to know exactly what that Violet wire is doing.

    Welcome to the site.

    Toycoma 2021,
I'm now planing on interrupting the pink wire (EB1) at the ECU control assembly to add wiring to a toggle switch located in the cab. Am I correct that a 20 amp switch is all that would be needed? No relay or other items needed?
    Thanks

Since the fuse supplying the circuit is 20 Amps (Edit out: is only 10 Amps), a 20 amp switch is more than sufficient. Verify the fuse rating to be sure.
