Hey all, I feel that the light output on my stock halogen lowbeams and looking at HID kits. Which would you recommend and why? I've been mainly looking at the XD phillips 4300k, but also see some hylux and Morimoto. Which one is probably the best? Thanks!

I have LEDs installed on mine. Feel like less of a hassle to troubleshoot if it should ever fail. The lightput is surprising bright and I didn’t have any issues on my old taco. I have one on my 3rd Gen also. Pictures attached are from the 3rd Gen at 6000K rating though. $51 shipped from Amazon.

@82ND_AAF_TACO, is right, LEDs are another great option for you as well. I'm a little biased as to the ones I would recommend (H11 Xtreme LED PRO Kit for a newer Taco's Low Beams), but you can see a couple of Reviews on our site that show these off. We don't have one with a Tacoma specifically yet, but we have several examples of newer Toyotas that run the H11 Projector-style Low Beams, so you can get an idea of how they would look.

I actually just installed Xenondepot HID phillips 4300k just now and can't wait till tonight to see the results :D from my understanding the HID's give better output than the LED's in the tacoma

The H11 Xtreme HID Kit will give far more of a light output upgrade than even the LEDs do (especially with those Philips 4300K bulbs). I'm a fan of the LEDs because the colour is great and they make a pretty solid upgrade over the stock halogens without going all the way to HID.

Let us know how you like them! And share some pictures, if you have any. We always like to see our lights out in the wild, making your drive better.

I have been using the XenonDepot HID phillips 4300k for just over a year now and I am very happy with them. Before them I had tried the Hyluxtek which are also good but I like the XD ones more and thats what I stuck with. Huge improvement over the stock halogens!

Curious what do you like more about the xenon depot ones than the hylux?

Both of the kits I tried had the 4300k bulbs, I felt the Xenon Depot bulbs put out a slightly more pure white light compared to the Hyluxtek bulbs which had a slightly warmer tone light. The Xenon Depot kit included the relay harness and the build quality of the bulb assembly was more robust than the Hyluxtek. They both locked into the headlight housing securely though with no movement/bouncing while driving.

Sorry no pictures :). I know there are a lot of pictures available here in other threads though from members reviewing both of these kits.

I had the 6000k led kit from Amazon. Initially it looked great but I had to travel 4 hours at night and was completely disappointed in the distant light output. I actually took them out and put my stock hagolens back on for the ride home. I then ordered the 4300k hid kit from xenon depot and couldn’t be happier. With the led kit, the light was bright but you couldn’t see far. With the hid kit, it’s bright and projects the light out much further. Good thing for the ones that already bought the led kit, you can switch them to your fog lights if you are not happy with them.

Just got this video of our Xtreme PRO H11 LED headlight kit installed in a Taco (along with some bajadesigns pods). The baja pros are bright, but you can still see the defined cut off of the LED headlights :)
