I've had this little beauty about 3 weeks. '17 TRD Off Road. Love it. Trying to figure out how I am going
to give it it's own look. Subtle sharp is my style.

In reality, so many people customize their Tacos if you leave it stock you'll actually look unique!

It will be very close to stock. Just thinking about dipping the chrome and adding some inserts to the tailgate. I have a Truxedo Truxport on order as I need to
get the bed covered for an upcoming trip. I can't afford too much more! Lot's of great trucks on this forum! It's great to see what people do with them.

Yup, all good mods and reasonably priced. My cover is the Truxedo Low-Pro. Painted the Front Grille. Got vinyl overlays for the Emblems and CF inserts for the tailgate lettering after this picture was taken.

What you have going is real close to what I am after. I'm thinking of dipping the grille in matte black and the Toyota badge, the Tacoma's on the sides and the v6 on the tailgate
in red.....if I can find a red that matches the TRD red......then it's just a matter of some red inserts in the cab and I will call it good.

I'd suggest Painting the Grille vs Dipping it. The beating the grille takes will mess up your Dip pretty quickly and pealing it off to fix will be a PITA. I used Rustoleum Universal Satin Black paint and it's holding up real well. Just a thought and good luck! Emblems work well with Derp as they don't get direct hits by bug, and things that chip the paint. And you can always change the color if you decide the color doesn't work.

Enjoy your Taco and good luck!

On Feb 25th I installed Bilstein 6112's up front (set at 2nd notch/0.75" lift + 0.25" spacer on driver side for "taco lean") and 5100's rear. Big time thanks to @jluu44 for helping with the install! Also added Stealth Custom Series F5's (16x8 — 4.5 backspacing/ 0 offset) wrapped in 265/75R16 Goodyear Duratracs C load range. Alignment done this morning. So stoked on how it all turned out. Got to thank Marie at Headstrong Offroad and Vin at SCS too for there help (and patience). Also, can't forget to thank the guys at Wheeler's Off-road for coming through with the lugs I needed. They were backordered, but still managed to get them to me in time for the install ... I literally took delivery of the lugs about 20 minutes before I got my wheels/ tires installed. Thank you guys so much.

The overall ride and performance of my truck is so much better. Honestly, I can not believe how much of an improvement the 6112's offer compared to TRD Offroad stock suspension. Highly recommend to anyone considering these. Stock Bilstein 4600 series shocks + Stock wheels/tires are for sale as well. Only 2,000 miles on them. PM me if you're in the San Diego area and interested.

Check out my build page for better pictures, but here is my truck (right) next to my co-workers stock truck (left). Same truck, except I'm running above mods and his is stock. According to my measurements (now that I've given it about 300 - 400 miles and a week or so to settle) I'm pretty much dead level. Very happy with results.

I'm guessing by the "3rd notch" comment that those are 3rd gen 5100s?
The 3rd notch is the middle one, correct?
    Looks great.

Thanks! Yes, running the 3rd gen 5100's. You are correct, the 3rd notch is the middle one. I've had these for about 3 weeks now and they are definitely an upgrade from the stock shocks.

Nice write up. I have a friend looking to upgrade to the same setup. How much did it cost? Also your truck is looking real nice. Love the rims and tires too. There's a sd meet thread i was planning to check it out next week.

    Hi Fellas,

Back during the Holidays I committed a treasonous act by trading my '13 SW ACLB SR5 V6 for a '17 Corvette Stingray (because the Taco didn't depreciate and they offered me 21k for it; 28k new). The car ended up having a bad differential from the manufacturer, and even after swapping it, the car had more problems! After 4 months of stress, I had enough, and returned to the fold.

This time in a 2017 MGM DCSB TRD Off Road 4x2!

Originally I was searching and failing to locate an MGM Access Cab TRD Sport, but when I was at the dealership, I fell in love with the Off Road, and my salesman and co-workers half way shifted my thinking toward the DCSB. For the record I have always wanted a Gray TRD, but was impatient in 2013.

I am in love with the truck; just need to adjust to the DCSB.
