Purchased Toyota Certified, with Vijay bumpers, additional lights, and Falken Wildpeaks on Fuel rims. Prev owner apparently painted the grill.
Love the new version with front 3/4 view. I ordered a ream of 65 pound card stock in 11x17 and printed a Lunar Rock version on the laser printer at work. Printed the 0-100k Maintenance map PF on the back side. Going to keep one in the Taco, one in my shop and gave one to my 10 year old little buddy up the street who likes to hang out with me doing shop stuff.

    Thank you for this project.

You don’t know how happy that makes me when the kids get involved. I was inspired to do and love maintenance by my grandpa (the guy in the profile pic). long story there, but in short, the youngest certified Mercedes mechanic in America in 1954, in charge of WW2 vets as a full German 19 year old kid. What a trip.

Well I just did my transmission fluid for my first time and it wasnt bad at all . Super easy need to do it again here in 10k just to help get more old fluid out . I used amsoil full synthetic transmission fluid. I got about 2 quarts out on the first drain . Put 3 back in and did the transmission temp check and drained the excess. Again very easy process .

Am I the only one that finds it weird that the first coolant change is at 100k but the following ones are every 50k?
I feel like the safe bet would be just doing it every 50k?

Very helpful write up by the way!

Driver's side was tight. I have a few cuts on my hands/fore arms to prove it!

My dad was a mechanic. I told him I was going to change the spark plugs in my 1992 S-10 Blazer. He came out to the garage 30 minutes later and I had the front jacked up, the driver's side tire off and was taking the plug out through the wheel well with 4 feet of socket extensions and a universal joint. He came over, looked at what I was doing, said "yep, that's probably the easiest way to get to it" and left.

This is such good information for me since I’m anal about my rides and I do all my own maintenance. I had a bad experience with the dealer while under new car warranty. Never again !!! Im a bit of a scardy cat when it comes to changing the tranny fluid but that’s a long ways off. As far as changing plugs, I think it’s a good idea to break the plug loose and then use compressed air to blow out around the plug before removing it. It would prevent debris from entering the cylinder.

This is great information. But I do have question. The interval to change rear diff fluid at 30,000 miles, is that for both 4WD and 2WD models ? And the 75-85W gear oil - is that synthetic oil ? 30,000 miles does seem a bit quick to me to change rear diff fluid.

On another note, my Toyota dealer told me that they will not service automatic trannys as far as a fluid change, and would not tell me why. I’m a long way from that but seems odd they won’t touch it.

As someone who runs only synthetic oil for everything, my preference is to change the diff fluid/s at 30k or 2 years, whatever comes first.
    (Regardless of 4WD or 2WD)

I've heard that same change interval from diff shops too and the CarCareNut, so it's just a general standard as far as I can tell.

As far as the auto trans goes, thats super weird.
I recall asking my dealer once about fluid changes for it, and they said every 60k miles.

If you found another dealer likely they would change it for you though.
