I can't seem to find anything about this. I keep seeing the tacoma getting beat in youtube drag races by its competition (Ranger, Jeep, Colorado) but it's always the Auto. Wondering if the manual would have made a better showing.

It's a truck. It's built for utility, not for speed.

    Who cares?

    I know, everybody...lol

I believe the faster cars are automatics and not surprisingly .....computer controlled ...not sure if that carries over to the taco but as some one said it’s just a regular truck .....not a syclone...

We need visual proof. Someone go out and side step the clutch at 6 grand, and lets see what happens.......
Might be fast, might be a shower of driveshaft parts, let’s find out.
    No one?

3rd gen Tacoma will never be faster at the 1/4 mile than a ranger. A simple tuner drops the 0-60 time by 2 seconds. Tested and proven.

In bench racing (what's happening here) the best gearing set up with equal power will be quickest.

In real life, the driver matters.

Everyone thinks they are an F&F shift master. But only @St.Germain & @Torspd are what I dream
I used to be in the days when autos were not computer controlled. :burnrubber:

In the other 99.8% of modern real world in a drag enviroment, the driver can't outshift a computer.

Road courses and autox are a whole 'nuther thing.

    It matters to me cuz
    1. I’m new to Toyota and Tacoma but I don’t like seeing my team get beat.
    2. Save the manuals.
    3. My other two cars are 600hp and 690hp to the wheels, both manuals .... I like drag races.

I’ll do it. After I break it in. Better yet, anyone with an automatic that’s interested let’s line them up. The switch drivers. Not a dick measuring contest just friendly science. Who wants to see that?

I like my slow little mini- truck, but that's just me.

I think you need to up your quoting skills though.

AT owners have a higher whining volume. MT owners just delete their accumulators.

Actually it is both. Depends on the way you drive, the build, age, tune and other environments.

Well you typical American's muscle has atrophied to the point where we keep here about needing a ole man handle on the driver side to get in. So I imagine the left leg and right arms muscles are feeble and weak so banging through those gears at a fast pace brings up the heart rate to the max. if you're thinking it's because of the blistering power that Camry motor provides think again, the driver is so out of shape that he needs a 10 way power seat to find his or her sweet spot. It's the most intense form of cardio Jake has seen since birthday sex during his first year of marriage to Cheryl a waitress at the Huddle House
