Cheryl eventually grows tired of the one-stop interstate town lifestyle and moves to the big city. There she lands an amazing position of managing a Barnes and Noble (corporate hasn't told her that they plan on shuttering this last store in the state in about six months, but she can dream for now.) After leaving Jake's go-nowhere country ass behind along with the Huddle House he day-cooks at, she meets a rather charming fellow in a decent looking Tacoma, and agrees to meet him at Applebee's for some red wine and a steak dinner. Life is looking good for Cheryl at the minute.

If you’re ever in Austin I’ll entertain your offer. Wouldn’t be an equal race, I have probably 1000 pounds on you.

The number of times this has been posted (a lot) is far greater than the number of times it has been true (zero)
The differential gear ratio is lower on the manual but it also has proportionately higher transmission gear ratios, the overall gear ratio is negligible. Math is hard.

Well . . . We only need to look at the first two gears since they'll both hit 60+ in 2nd.

MT on the left, AT on the right:

All stock numbers punched into http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html

I can do 8.0s runs pretty consistently. I did get a 7.2s once. I haven't tired on the new tires yet since good places (safe, no traffic, good sightlines, no cops) are not close by.
