I wanted to see if this would work. No one would let me rip off there 3rd gen mirrors, so I ordered some off ebay. It is not a direct bolt on. I had to finesse them a little with a dremel and drill new holes. I still need to make the wire connection for the blinker and heated mirrors. I wanted to see what people would think about it. There is a small gap at the front side corner. Any Ideas on how to fill?

I would think just some simple calking material should do the trick.

I mounted the drivers side mirror today.DSC00874.jpg DSC00916.jpgDSC00917.jpg
I will be wiring the blinkers and defrost later. The power mirrors are working as normal.

How much work to go from 2nd gen to 3rd gen? I want the pro efx tow mirrors and they are taking forever to develop.

I did each mirror separate. I took my time. Maybe 2 hours each. I did not like drilling the door for the new mirrors.
    DSC00800.jpg
I depinned the plugs on both mirrors. I used the 3rd gen mirror seal to locate new mounting holes. Making sure to be at the high end of the top corner. Drilled holes, put 3rd gen mirror on and marked approximate material to remove.
    DSC00903.jpg
remove material, and repeat fitment many times until happy.
    DSC00910.jpg
I then cut out 2nd gen mirror seal to fit 3rd gen mirror. The bottom two mirror mounts on the door had to be slightly hammered to the out side slightly for threading nut and washer. The inside mounting got ugly. I could have easily went with the 2015 mirrors witch are simple. I put the 2nd gen plug on the 3rd gen. It has provisions in the plug for the blinker but not the defrost. I will work that out later.

I’m sure you checked but what did the hinge mechanism look like between the mounting base and the housing itself?

Any chance you could install the 3rd gen onto the 2nd gen base?

I got a depin tool kit from ebay. I have been messing with wires and plugs for a while now. Most of the time there is a keeper that needs to be removed then the depin tool can depress the wire lock removing the wire from the plug.DSC00798.jpg this is the original plug. notice the first two black wires are for the mirror defrost.
    DSC00914.jpg
Now this is the 05 plug and you can see that it does not have space for the mirror defrost.
