I didn't have my truck 30 days when some dirtbag decided to try and change lanes into me, and tapped my back corner, ripping the bumper cover off. I didn't realize it happened until I was long gone...

But then I found this thread and bought a new set of bumper covers and some Plasti-Dip and went to work:

Overall, I really like the consistent black rubberized look of the bumper, instead of the color-matched plastic, stock always kinda looked goofy to me.

If you get a texture similar to Bedliner, will a wet coat of glossifier help it lay down? I may have to strip my grille and start over.

Glossifier will not help smooth it out from my experience. You need to lay another heavier coat of PD.

IMG_20170912_163505402_HDR.jpg I did another heavy coat, no real help. I'm just gonna roll with it for now, it still has basically bedliner texture.

You get the bed liner texture if you don't apply enough on initial spray. You want to lay it on enough that the color is solidly present.

There are a few youtube videos showing this.

I used the Rust-Oleum version, and had good results.

The first coats were barely visible. just a mist spray. I followed the instructions about the time between coats.

I never watched a YouTube video about this, so not sure, but many lighter coats seemed to do the trick for me, and fwiw.

See, this is where the confusion comes in, because several of the videos say to use a almost overspray like light coat for better adhesion on the first coat, then heavier as you go, which is what I did.

I plan on getting a Pro grill or a BAMF eventually anyway, I'll just live with it.

I still can't get the end caps off without it feeling like I'm gonna break some clip I can't see.
Any vids with better details on getting the ends off?

The metal clips do bind, but will release with some pressure- i did not reinstall the metal clips and the bumper caps are holding just fine

And how did the "metal clip" at the end of video get back on?

I didn't reinstall it. The bumper caps are solid, so I am not worried about not having the metal clip in place.

And not having the metal clips in place will make removing the caps easier next time, lol

I did keep the clips, in case I have a need for them at a later date.

You have to unhook the vents going to the engine and then unhook the filter and then...oh wait, it's just for looks so a few screws and that's it.

Tried the camo tan for the front emblem, not an exact match but close enough...

I just did mine over the weekend too and it wasn't that bad. Hardest part of the whole process was taking out the piece over the steering wheel. Both pieces pop off of the dash pretty easily. Once they are removed there are a few screws and small clips and that's about it.20170914_131324.jpg
