    Tinting the drl, did you do just the lens or reflector that sits behind the lens as well?

    Lens only. Not the reflector bowl.

    Does blacking out the side-facing, uh, sides, impact performance at all?

    little update;
    These have been sitting on my shelf since I have been testing the Morimoto's in my truck. I figured they needed some love(plus one of the DRL boards was toast) so time to kick it up a notch.

    [IMG]

    This is going the brightest DRL known to tacos. It will be using 12ea Luxeon Rebel amber emitters; powered in groups of 3 off a 1000mA buckpuck Driver (~325mA ea)
    Thermal epoxied to a custom 1/4" aluminum heatsink(same shape as OEM board so It bolts in) and most importantly utilizing the factory optics for maximum efficiency.
    It's gonna be bright!

    COOL Stuff I can't afford . . . But I bought anyway!
    @MESO Regarding the orange acrylic signal cover:
    1: Looks like your using 1/8" sheet acrylic?
    2: You're heating the piece and pressing it against the fins to mold it?
    3: How are you attaching the acrylic to the fins?

    Love that diffused orange look!

    1/8 acrylic. I buy the 12”x12” sheets. Cut into quadrants. Throw a 6”x6” in my toaster oven until very plyable(this is key). Press it on the backside of the signals “gills” to take shape.(use gloves- really hot). Once cool, I trace the outline(easy because it’s clear) and trim with my ultrasonic knife. Finally, take 2 part epoxy(gel is better since it’s thicker and will not run) and go around the entire perimeter mating the 2 together.
    Good luck!

    Curious where you got the acrylic from. I'm guessing TAP but I would like to do some custom stuff with my 2nd gen.
