Hey considering a 3rd gen 6MT but wanted to hear from owners on experience as far as reliability. I know, I know we can't know long term as it's a relatively new truck but I'm wanting to hear about any issues you may have come across such as tsb, recalls, broken/damaged components or electrical issues you may have encountered. Thank you in advance for any input!

Seems to be ok to be honest. 16 had the most problems. 17 less, and 18+ even less.

Edit: very limited problems as well

You will not be dissapointed with 3rd gen MT. Solid built rigs. I had couple minor recalls. One was brake master cylinder, and one was for the TSS sensor.

My truck drives great, i love it.

Maybe get 2017 if you dont want TSS, or get 2020 if you want power seats and updated head unit.

    Good luck!

The only problem I had with my '17 was the instrument cluster. I had to have it replaced at 1500 miles. The tach was sticking in hot weather. The only complaint I have is Toyota's lack of added features that most vehicles have these days. Like intermittent wipers for one.

I've had zero issues with my '16 other than the rear diff leak that was fixed in the recall. Other than that, it's been solid as a rock.

My head unit screen got a bright yellow line across it three days into owning it and was replaced without hassle.

No leaks, vibration, noises, or any other problems with this truck that I didn’t cause myself. Even my OEM battery is still going strong.

Well-built vehicle that has been a stellar performer so far. Took it to the Arctic Ocean and back with confidence this past summer. No issues.

I have a 17 with 29k on it. Had it a little over 2 years now. Had the leaf spring TSB done and that is it. No other problems.

My personal experience with my 2017 is zero issues, although I prefer to pay for oil changes every 5000 between the Toyota care interval and feed it ethanol free only. After TSB 058, the transmission has been much better.

My 17 had the instrument cluster sticking as well (like mentioned above), and also a leaky rear diff that was just a bad deal covered under warranty. Also a squeaky clutch covered under warranty, but that was mostly because the moron who had it before didn’t know how to drive stick very well. I bought it CPO at ~27,000 miles.

    bulletproof otherwise

I got an 18. No issues to speak of. More trouble with the Dealerships than anything. Don't get me wrong, my issue was because I brought it in one city but live in another. The selling dealership said there would be no problems. If the Truck had give me any problems I wouldn't have dealt with it. I can't believe they have Regional Sales meetings and at those meetings they sit across from each other playing nice but have adopted a we will not work on each others sold vehicles. Shame on the Tucson Ariz. Dealerships.

Lotta people seemed to have cracked OEM windshields pretty early. Cheap glass. I had 2 separate cracks after 1k miles. No problems since replacing with aftermarket.

19 SR A/T 20600mi on the motor, no issues worth noting yet. TSS stopped working when I installed my grille but that's my problem, not theirs.

2017 With a V6 and manual, 35,000kms. It has been flawless. Absolutely zero complaints from me.

Just buy one, if you end up regretting it or second guessing the reliability of the truck, it will sell fast at minimal loss if any, at all. I'd say before worrying about how long it will last, I'd make sure it's the truck you want. A lot of guys will buy a taco and get mad they can't tow a 40' boat and have 4 adults in the cab.
