My 16 OR/AT has been solid over 25k. Just a headliner tsb and the transmission shift tsb, and it came 2 quarts low of ATF. I have taken it into some pretty remote places alone, without hesitation. I think the OR model is some of the best bang for the buck you can spend on a vehicle. Like others have said, as long as you understand you are getting a mid size Toyota truck, which is not built around towing, lateral g forces, 0-60 times or hyper miling, you will have no issues. it will get you pretty far out there, reliably and for many years to come. I think in today's consumer environment where many people get a new vehicle every few years, people are more attenuated to the spec sheet than the 10+ year ownership experience.

‘18 with 37k. No issues other than factory radio has been replaced 3 times and still has intermittent glitches. I’ve gotten used to it at this point. Other than that, it’s doing good.

2018 here, zero issues or bad feelings about my truck. If you live where they salt the roads, use an oil based undercoating every year and you’ll probably have a decent truck for 15 years. Don’t be afraid to get the RPMs up on the engine, it’s made for it.

@AKGSD 's post reminded me of one issue I had that I had forgotten about. My BSM failed while driving through Wyoming in a wicked snow storm on Black Friday 2018. Since it was out of warranty I didn't take it in and finally got around to looking into the issue a few months later when the weather warmed up. Pulled off the rear bumper corners and cleaned the modules and wire contacts, but that didn't fix the issue. A generic code reader didn't pick up any DTC codes but after a bit of research I found that it likely threw some codes that only Techstream could read. Dropped $175 on a Tactrix cable and with a bootleg copy of Techstream I found and cleared a couple error codes. Problem fixed. Nowadays, I keep the BSM system disabled and rarely use it. I definitely don't use it in wet or snowy weather.

Same. Occasionally mine has an issue where it will say something is there when i am reversing when there is nothing on either side. Very rare occurrence so i didn't worry about it

    17 SR 2.7L 5MT I've got about 52,000mi.
Rear diff seal was replaced under warranty
Passenger side dash rattle when cold
    Clutch groan
Stock battery was leaky (replaced with a sealed batt.)

Only minor stuff which doesn't bother me at all, this truck has been great to me over the past 3 years. Look forward to many more years and miles.

My 2017 has just rolled 25000. Cant complain about mechanical s on the truck because it has been flawless. Do have concerns about the frame and the fact Toyota has done nothing for 20 years to correct the frames rusting out. That is our fault though because we keep buying them knowing this is a problem. My other concern is how bad these trucks fold up in a wreak. I hit a doe that got up and ran away but did $7500 damage to my truck. It took out everything on the passenger side back to the door. I found out that Toyota doesnt extend the bumper past the radiator. There was nothing but plastic behind the front bumper cover.

My '17 thankfully does not have the lane departure crap, or the other safety shit on it. Less shit to go wrong...

Consider that bumper like a 5mph bumper. It's a cushion and a crush zone.

My 11/15 TX built truck has been solid.

No problems including the windshield in almost 4 years 50k miles, fwiw.

Good that you are doing research on the forum, but I was surprised no one has mentioned test drive.

Since you say you have some time, why not visit some dealerships and test drive some different configurations.

Since you want MT you might be limited with selection, but you can get a good feel if the truck is what you are expecting.

    Good luck whatever you decide.

What did you replace it with?

Related note, I have not had any issues with the windshield either. I make a point to minimize my time behind vehicles likely to throw rocks, regardless it has taken some big hits without so much as a chip.

The VCS and ABS lights were on, and got a message alert to check the ABS. This is a 2016 TRD Sport with 22,500 miles and is kept in a garage and babied. No reason for this, truck had been sitting 3 or 4 days in the garage and was good before starting it.
