Thanks for the response. I had come across the other thread and notice someone mentioned it was not the main one! Moved my question! Appreciate it tho!

I ordered the kit. Installed it according to the instructions and when I plug in the module the light cycles from orange to red to green to off. I triple checked the connections and made sure the wires were connected to where they were supposed to be. I called customer support and they had me send it out to them and they said the board had fried. They sent me another one but the same exact issue with the lights and cannot program. I again checked all of the wiring and found no issues. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you have a wire connected incorrectly, or you have a bad connection somewhere.

This is the most ghetto rigged thing I've bought for my 2016 Tacoma... first off the wiring pin diagrams are very low resolution. The zoomed in pinouts were not all included in the instructions. They don't have a copy of the instructions on their website. The wire taps do not work and I was advised by KB Voodoo not to use them... wtf. The whole thing is set up now only after refering to every other source for installation instructions and this thing just stays stuck on red. If this was my business I would be ashamed of selling this half assed DIY remote start. I am going to take the truck to a local audio shop tomorrow to get this sorted out.

That's cool that your daughter can crimp wires. I hope that's not her proudest attribute. I didn't say it was hard to install. I think the original kit was thrown together with the cheapest components possible without enough testing. When KB realized that the connectors were not working, rather than offer a remedy they just told the customers who already bought a kit not to use the connectors. It's pretty simple to pick connectors for the right gauge wire... yet they didn't get that right in a kit advertised as an all inclusive KIT. Just a half assed way to conduct business imo. I waited to install it because I haven't had time and really haven't cared to install the kit since DECEMBER when I ordered it. This pos is just tucked under my dash now not working until I have time to get back in there to redo the connections and troubleshoot. Thanks for the quality kit KB!

We've sold like 500 of these without a complaint. That's all I'm going to say.

I wish you made one, but I know you don't, which is why I asked in this neutral thread which seems to be discussing multiple options.

Edit: I just realized this is the thread from the original seller, so it isn't exactly neutral, but I do see other products discussed, so it still makes sense to ask here, if you're OK with it.

Sure hope so... I emailed my service advisor about an hour ago asking if Toyota has one for my little 4 cylinder Tacoma. Guess you answered my question.. :(

No disagreement here, I remember when I first saw these up for sale thinking it was a solid price for something people were tripping over themselves to get. Glad you guys did well with it

    Nick,

Did you do the installation yourself? I bought the Toyota plug & play remote start and I was thinking about adding the SmartStart. I wanted to know if you think the SmartStart is worth the additional 160.00 plus the monthly service fee?

Service advisor just emailed me and said remote start is a factory option on the 2018's. He said he figured it won't be long before I can get one for my 2016.

Yes its a simple install of the smart start. Do you have the KBVoodoo kit? If so its already flashed to accept the addition of the smart start

The factory remote start will run about 350 for the unit plus dealer installation cost if you have a push to start. I see by your profile you have a key start, so any best buy or install shop could put a simple remote start in for that 350 or under
