Not seeing any posts related to this so, has anyone done it yet?

Looking to place some recessed LED lights in my stock rear bumper but with the two part bumpers, it's limiting where I can cut the holes....

Anyone have a recommendation on a smaller recessed LED light and/or actually put your own LED's in a rear bumper?

It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
i have the sr-q flush mounts sitting in my garage. i took a look at the bumper and it looks like a pain in the ass. theres a bunch of waffle plastic you would need to cut out and i'm not sure where a good mounting point would be

Existing thread here, under a month old: Led mounted in rear factory bumper

tl;dr version: Rigid Ignite flush-mount floods work well.

@Siblue has the best install example of these. I'm going to likely mount mine (single unit rigid) the opposite side of the tow harness on the right side of the plate.

That's pretty nice setup... I see you added lettering since the install! Now thinking where to mount these on my plate bumper! Cutting 1/4" steel... yeah that's a problem.

This is the exact same thing I went through.. I don't mind dismantling and cutting everything apart, I just want to make sure that the lights will fit when I'm done and it didn't really look promising from just holding them up due to the two part bumper...

I'm looking for utility lighting off the back. More than just reverse lights for sure!

Thought about that also, just don't want them to get ripped off if I drag ass.

That's a thing of beauty! I envisioned more "lights" but if it gives me enough "light" I'm good with it. Looks like a solid option!
    Thank you.

thats another issue. i dragged my bumper the other day and it popped the tag light and sonar sensor out, separated the black and painted pieces and ripped a tear in it. good lights should be pretty sturdy but the stock plastic bumper is junk and doesnt offer much protection

I would go out on a flimsy limb and say the rear bumper offers NO protection... specially from your wallet / money separation. Just sayin..... and Plate Bumper.

    What a fun truck!
    Alternative!

Install a plug and play light bar! Super bright for reverse lights, and also an added brake light :)

How about 3.5x brighter than the brightest drop in LEDs without cutting anything:
