There was a TSB for 2016's that had the Dealer add plugs to the lower A Arms, starting in 2017 they already come plugged from the factory so your truck won't need it.

    Now you’re justifying the entitlement.

Mine does it too. It's not a sigh. It's a high pitch whistle. OR maybe similar to the sound a finger on a wine glass makes. Its only when the compressor I think runs and while under acceleration.

Just signed up for this forum when I saw this thread. Traded in my 2015 TRD Sport for a 2019 and I am getting the annoying "Darth Vader' noise as it is described hear. 2015 had no noise. Will be heading to the dealer to discuss this. I am a long time Toyota owner and have never had any issues, so if someone has some constructive advice to tell the service dept, I would appreciate the help. (Such as a Service Bulletin reference, etc.)

    A DIFFERENT A/C NOISE?
I figured I just hop in this thread so ...
Sometimes I’ll here a noise when the a/c is on .. not all the time just a couple of time when I’m standing out side the truck with the a/c running the best way I can describe it sounds like a swamp cooler pump when the water level has gotten to low. Its not a slurping sound but more like the droning sound you’d here from inside the house when you no it needs water. A/c is cold , temp doesn’t fluctuate, it doesn’t “pulsate” to the sound in any way and I’ve only noticed it a few time. Other times I’ve been wiping my truck down real quick with a/c and everything sounds normal. When the charging system is low does it make a sound or just warm air. Cause that sound does sound like something is low but it’s not consistent enough and I know if I take it in it will be fine. I have the 100k extended warranty so I at least want it documented when I take it in for an oil change in case later it turns into something I’m covered. It’s a needle in a haystack but this forum is the home of serious Tacoma drivers so I always post here before I go in. Saves time and money. Thanks for any input bros

My 2019 makes the sound from the clip posted earlier. Usually under acceleration with the ac on. Other than that it gets down right frigid in the cab. No other sounds than the “harmonic” noise.

Ya I posted a separate thread hoping to get feedback since this one thread is getting too deep in pages. Little things like this bug me when you’re not consistent but I appreciate the feedback bro thank you

Toyota is aware of this problem, they don't have a fix for it yet. You need to open a claim with Toyota motor corp and get it documented.

I have opened a claim with Toyota regarding Darth Vader sound and the whistling sound. Will hear back soon.

Yes my brand new 2019 is doing this but only with AC on and the blower motor on the first two settings .... With the A/C off it stops immediately or if I go up to the high settings .....
This is absolutely a joke if this is considered normal and the last thing I want is a dealer monkey tearing half of the dash out ..... So what is it exactly that is taking place here
The blend doors opening or the mode selector motor moving or the blower fluctuating ..... Unacceptable for a brand new truck

Thank you Duff for the link
To be clear here the wooshing sound and the high pitched noise are two different sounds I am getting at two different times and yes sometimes they coincide only because the ringing resonance noise is only present while running on a incline or acceleration

The wooshing and or "Darth Vader " sound only is present when the a/c is on and the blower motor is on the two lower settings

:yay:The whistling sound is a turbo that Toyota has installed in all Tacoma’s.

I’ve also experience the same high pitched intermittent sighing noise when AC is on, but even when off it will continue but become less frequent until it’s all quiet after about 4 days or so.

I’ve had the noise for a while, maybe since driving it new off the lot 2 years ago (2017 TRD Sport, manual trans). Same identical noise as in post #33.

I wasn’t too worried about it as I have the 200k warranty and the dealership has other things they are working on but I’ve mentioned it on my file now and yesterday took the shop quality assurance manager out for a test drive. Was able to make the sound happen several times but it was very quiet but told him it gets very loud. I will have to show him this thread. Thanks for creating the forum.
