Hey guys, looking for a lift kit for my 2017 tacoma trd offroad. I’m leaning towards a 3” kit preferably under $1500. I would like to eventually fit 33’a under it. I’m also looking to level it and get rid of the factory rake. I want good looks but I also off-road to get to my house every day also being my daily driver. For that I want something that handles well off and on the road. Please let me know what kits I need to be looking at to reach this goal!

I just ordered the GTS suspension from mainline overland. They might have some specials going on still if you message them.

Do you actually “off-road” to get home everyday or do we have vastly different definitions?

Going to 3” is more involved then just the basic lift. Also 33” doesn’t tell us a lot. Tire width? Offset? Why 3” vs 2”? 3” is usually the point where UCAs are needed or other things. Is $1500 your budget for lift, tires and wheels?

I noticed you left out "NONE" in the poll. Where you headin' that you need a lift? Don't forget, that without way bigger tires, that bitch is still just as close to the ground.

You will need control arms at that height. To get a great alignment. Research

If you offroad to get to your house daily, maybe you should spend that $1500 on a grader and have your driveway fixed....just...sayin

I decided 3” because the pictures of 2” lifts I see don’t look like much of a change from stock to me. Tire offset and width are something I’m lost on as far as what I can fit.

$1500 is my budget for the lift kit. I currently have 265/75r16 toyo A/T but was definitely looking to upgrade in size after the lift. Wasn’t sure if I necessarily wanted to get into a 35 with rubbing issues and needing cmc or other trimming.

    OME lift 285 75 16 and 0 offset..is what I’d do on your truck.

here’s a truck I just built for a friend. He went with a spacer lift 2.5” up front 1” rear tho for now. 285-70-17s and 0 offset raceline wheels

So your going for looks then. Looks are in the eye of the beholder. I have 1.5” front and rear. Did a lot of research. Definitely is lifted and looks more aggressive. To lift your truck for 1500 to do it right good luck.

I'm voting spacer because obviously there aren't enough spacer threads for the search to return any valuable content, we must need more.

@xtyfighterx that looks pretty good! Could you please send a link for the OME kit used in that?

I read for over 4 months to educate myself. Spent around 3000 inparts and tires. I wanted to makes sure I got what I really wanted. I did have it installed which cost more but to me well worth it,I just didn’t have the time. That’s needed for my Fj40.
I’m attaching what I had installed:
dobinson 314 springs with 220 struts and shocks
    Dakar med leaf pack
    Ecgs bushing
    spc ucas
Head strong 1/4 inch strut spacers each side give it a 1/2 more lift up front
    Carrier bearing spacer
    Diff drop
sema rims (+4). (Was not added on price above. ordered and installed on stock tires earlier)
    Ko2 285/70/17 about 32.7 inches tall

no rub and I’d say about 3in give or take a 1/4 in

    FF825586-6B0A-4A9E-8FBB-DB7C108C69F8.jpg

also you have to remember to account for armor, bumper and winch weight . That will determine the springs and struts you purchase. Buy the wrong ones and you will get more sag than expected. Read and learn from guys who have made that mistake already. I changed my set up a couple of times based off others unwanted results. These guys here are to help and save you money Good luck. Let me know if I can help. I don’t really know much. Lol
