3rd-Gen Tacoma OEM Mic Adapter

I'm running an external mic set up. Works pretty well:

Don’t bother with this one anymore, they had questionable performance at best. I’ve seen at least pioneer and kenwood not have good performance. Get the Enfig microphone for Tacoma. It sounds great (per people I’ve called it’s significantly better than stock or the mic that comes with the radios) and it clips into the upper console so there’s no “added mic” look. 100% happy with mine. Make sure you get the 3.5 to 2.5mm adapter if you have one of the radios with the smaller mic jack. My kenwood used 3.5 so I didn’t order that piece.

Definitely need the 2.5mm adapter if you have a Pioneer.

 

do you or anyone else have a pic of where you clipped this to the upper console? it lists to fit in the '16 to'18 models overhead console, would this clip fit the 2020+ model overhead console?

 

It fits perfectly in my 2021. Goes right in the center spot on that upper console. You pull out the little piece of foam in there from the factory and then clip in the mic. Works great.

Leave some cable slack in the roof so you can lower the roof console in the future. Since the mic cable is all one piece to the radio.

Did you manage to integrate with the OEM connector at all? That would make it killer but I guess it’d be a PIA and expensive to have parts on both ends.

I’ve got my Pioneer mic in foam in the same spot. I hate talking to people anyway someday I need to Enfig. Cool that they link to TW!

 

Unfortunately not. The two wires in the bundle are a center wire and a stranded ground wrapped around that wire, then a thick sheath around both. I could not find a clean way to split into two wires at all. I was going to crimp them to a Deutsch connector so it would at least be disconnectable, but no dice.

My solution is leave a bunch of slack in the roof so I can set the console on the seat if need be, and worst case I just grab a screwdriver and unlock the tangs to get the mic out if I need to remove the console fully. Thankfully, I’m barely ever up there now that all my projects are done, so none of it really Matters for me.
