@DSIM . Got everything hooked up as stated above, the tailgate lock works as it should, the Bolt and Open worked twice, then now it doesnt work. I try locking then unlocking 3x, nothing. I also want to note that when i do the 3x unlock, the Bolt and Open actuator twitches each time.

@KTJO 4x4 , i switched wires on the bolt and open and the bolt and lock actuators around so i could test the Bolt and Open since the DSIM module doesnt seem to be working. It pulls on the latch, but the actuator doesnt have enough pulling strength to actually open the latch. I tried to move the actuator like instructed in another post but the actuator is at the max pulled out position already. I am testing it with the tailgate open, not even closed. I need help!

Try removing the two small rubber plugs from the bedside. There is one on each side. Try it a few times and see if starts opening consistently.

The tailgate is open and it doesn't release the latch. I push the latch in with a screwdriver so there is no weight at all on the latch when testing it.

Hmmm a bit confused here, maybe I am not reading it right. If the bolt and open actuator twitches after 3x unlock then the module is working and the actuator is the problem. Only a couple others have had this issue and @KTJO 4x4 should be able to help you out.

Unplug the actuator from the module and try the 3x unlock. Does the relay click?

If the relay does not click after you've gone through the troubleshooting steps in the second post, PM me. I have had a few customers that damaged the arduino during installation that I had to send a replacement arduino for and have been good ever since. I test each and everyone of these things on the bench before I send em out, so it has got to be something during installation that I have not nailed down yet. My best guess has been temporarily flipping the A-Harness upside down when initially plugging it in (reverses the polarity) and fries the output to the relay trigger. Working on a solution to prevent that.

Actuator is not plugged in, tested the 3x unlock, i get no clicks from the module. Tried re-plugging all the connectors again, nothing. Tested for voltage with multimeter okay. Also, i have it plugged in exactly like the picture above. I read on the other post about the ardunio getting damaged during install so i wanted to be sure i didnt plug any if the wires in wrong. I never flipped the connector around. I just pulled straight out and back in to verify connection was solid. I did all of the plugging at the butt connectors and verified multiple times before plugging in to the appropriate wires on the KTJO harness. It worked fine for the first 2 times i tested it, then never worked after that.

    I’m
I am one of the people that needed a new Arduino. And I can tell you with 100% certainty that it did not fail due to improper installation.

I have been communicating with DSIM (Daniel) on an issue I had (appears to have been caused by crossed witing in the tailgate) but he promptly shipped me out a new board for the module and spent 30 minutes of his Saturday on the phone with me. His service is TOP NOTCH!!! With the new module in place the release actuator now triggers as it should.

Thank you Daniel for a great product and awesome support!!!

Is this just to unlock the tailgate with remote or am I missing something?

Two mods available (Lock/Unlock and Open).

The Tailgate open mod is a collaboration between myself and @KTJO 4x4 to remotely open/drop the tailgate. Either with the remote (3x Unlock) or with a push button in the dash. Also interlocks to prevent opening the tailgate while driving. KTJOs part of the kit is the actuator and mounting. My part is the module (Custom PCB / Arduino).

Here's the link to KTJOs main thread. (I think she created this one just for install questions)

I got same problem. It doesn’t pull enough. Another 1/4 inch of pull will definitely open the tailgate but its not happening at all.

so I ended up to a conclusion that the actuator does not have enough power to pull both latch at the same time. Try unhooking the rod on the driver side and it will have enough stroke to open the latch on the passenger side. But if you hook up both rods to each latch, then it wont have enough power to unlatch both sides of the latch.

therefore, a more powerful actuator will fix it. 100%.

and for the dsim, you can just unhook the KTJO plug and play connectors for 10 seconds to reset the module.
