OP, just sell that shit and buy a vehicle you enjoy driving. Life's too short and these things cost way too much to hate it every day.

Whatever you do...don't part out or sell it...like most suggest on here.

I'm in it for the long haul...and hopefully, you are too.

well friend, I’ve loved my past 3 tacos, owned them since 1988 just can’t believe I’m annoyed with the most expensive one I’ve ever owned. I hope it works out for me

    @Taco-dude

This is my first NEW Toyota Truck...period.

The only truck I've ever owned was in Hawaii, circa 1999-2003 was a used Isuzu Pup.

I've utilized a 2003 Honda Pilot & 2010 Mazda CX-9 and realized a truck was what I needed in my later years.

So, I was in a position to finance a $40K truck for $35K and I did it. (USAA gave me 1.8% APR)

I've got it tuned and spent about $5K in upgrades...I'm fortunate enough to do such things.

All the best to you in your adventure!

Just tune it. I got the KD max pro 9.0 and it did wonders for shifting and holding gears. The transmission is buttery smooth. Not to mention, you gain 29 horsepower and 28 lb ft of torque just on 87 octane.

Yes, you can do them yourself if you purchase VF Tuner.

You might want to consider a Pedal Commander or Sprint booster. Definitely will help to make the truck more fun to drive.
I understand a tune is Probably a better solution.

Everyone is quick to talk about how good the tune is.....
How many of you guys with tunes got them before your warrantee was up?

You sound confident in asking this question.

Why is that a concern for you?

Another vote for a tune. I hated the way mine wouldn’t maintain speed or go when I wanted it to. Best $400 I’ve spent in a long time.

I was referring to the full size 1/2 ton and should have stated that. I will not touch a small turbo charged engine putting out good HP until they prove to be reliable and so far that's not happening as they all seem to be having issues. The Colorado/Canyon looks very promising and I think is probably a better truck than the Tacoma by a bit if it proves to be reliable. I learned to not judge a trucks reliability by what you see on the forums because that's where everyone with problems goes and makes things seem way worse than it is. I wanted reliable without all the bells and whistles (electronics) that cause so many problems along the way. The Taco fits the bill better than the others and since I come from a 4runner it was an easy choice. I may even end up back with a 4runner again, who knows.

I got my truck tuned before the warranty expired.

The people that work at my local dealership can barely change the oil without forgetting to put the cap back on, they’re not going to figure out it’s tuned if I take the truck in for a repair under warranty. No offense to anyone who works at a dealership, just speaking for my local one based on numerous personal experiences.

Either the truck got used to me or I got used to the truck or it got used to me! Seems fine now!

Same here my 19 is fine after about 1000 miles I learned it and it learned me no issues don’t need a tune. Just learn the skinny pedal and you will be fine it takes some finesse not just stomping down on it.

Trying using you ETC button. That seems to help a little bit other than a tune.
