Hello to all. I was wondering if anyone has put a 3rd gen TRD Pro suspension on a 2nd gen? I have a 2005 OR and got a really good deal on a 3rd gen TRD Pro suspension with 6K miles on it. From what I understand it should be a direct replacement and give the truck about 1" inch lift. Has anyone else done this or have any insight on it?

    Thanks

There are a couple small threads and one big thread on this subject: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/review-3rd-gen-suspension-on-2nd-gen.542843/

I swapped 3rd gen suspension onto my truck and am happy with the result for the cost. Basically just a lil lift and new shocks. But, honestly, I felt no difference in ride quality. To me it feels exactly the same. But, $150 for a lil lift, new shocks and new UCA's was well worth it to me.

    Awesome thanks for the info.
I was reading and someone mentioned that they had to get new LCAs for the swap, do you know if thats true or will the stock ones be fine. Also, does the 3rd gen suspension compensate for lean as well, I have read both that it does and does not.
    Thanks for all the help.

You do not need new LCA's, your stock ones are fine and from what I read the 3rd gen LCA's don't fit on a 2nd gen anyway (If interested, do some research. I'm not sure of the details. They maybe fit with modification, I forget the details now.)

Seems everyone has a different experience with "lean". My truck was NOT level with the 3rd gen suspension. But the difference was minimal and it doesn't bother me.

My 06 has a drivers side rear lean with 3rd gen suspension. It’s about an inch lower on drivers side rear

^Have you tried measuring with a full tank vs empty tank of gas? 1" seems like a LOT - way more than on my truck. Makes me wonder if there's more going on there.

Same 1” difference on full tank or empty tank. Front is 1/2” lower on drivers side too. Rear is 1” lower on drivers side

The 3rd Gen TRD Pro Fox coilovers as is yielded me these measurements on the front(center of hub to bottom of fender flare):

    Driver: 21”
    Passenger: 21 1/4”

You think the toytec 1/4” front top plate spacer and 1/2” rear block would correct this lean?

Necrothread - so how do the 3rd Gen Pro shocks ride in a 2nd Gen? I've heard a lot of good things about the setup

You don't need to add the 1/4" spacer with the fox pro suspension because this correction is built in to the setup.
