Same. I just was out poking around under the hood. I put some vacuum on the valve at idle and it stumbled as it was supposed to. I was the debating digging in some more and said "ya know what, it's nice out, and this thing really runs just fine, I'm gonna go for a walk".

    But.

I am looking sideways at my MAF. I think it might be causing a slight stumble when hot, because in this cool evening air it was running smoother than it has when I've been out and about .:notsure:

Is it easy to undo? If you put it back, does it stop overheating?

    ***Thread bump

Just picked up a 2020 OR... Wondering about this modification. I used to do this all the time on other vehicles, but they were older, and Fords lol.

Anybody with a newer vehicle (Gen3) done this successfully?

    Thanks!

Not here. Go back to the main forum and look for the Gen3 sub section.

How many of you guys had EGR codes before doing the EGR delete, I wonder... first EGR code my '04 threw was ~6mos ago. 158k miles. Excessive Exhaust Gas Recirculation P0402, what to do... I replaced my VSV and it came back on. Too bad I live in CA! Lol

Very few most likely. If you can, pull the intake manifold, take it all apart, and clean it. Mine was very caked up and I ended up soaking it in a plastic tote using some SuperClean. I laid put the two halves back together and laid them so I could pour and it would hold the SClean. It still needed a little scrubbing on a few heavy spots but after a couple of hours soak most melted away with a water hose. The worms came out of the ground and started flopping on the grass when I started hosing on it so I moved my operation next to a fire ant bed.

Gonna try this out soon. I have new up and down stream sensors as well. Thinking about replacing my entire exhaust system and then sensors after cleaning intake if problem persists. Been saying this since I found out about em - FUCK AN EGR SYSTEM!!!

I left mine plugged in and just capped off the vac lines on that little green box.

Not sure if you figured this out yet but you can either delete them and cap them off at the hardlines in the back of the engine bay or you can just buy some universal lines at the parts store and run them straight to the Throttle body effectively bypassing where the EGR used to be.
I've done both methods and would recommend replacing the lines with universal ones to still have coolant go through the TB. The idle at startup is a little weird without coolant going through the TB

I know it's been a while since this question was asked, but I'll go ahead and answer it.

The x% is the tolerance of the resistor. A resistor with 5% tolerance means that the manufacturer claims that the resistor's value is within 5% of the specified resistance (in ohms), so a resistor with a specified resistance of 10,000 ohms (10k) and a tolerance of 5% is considered within specification as long as the actual resistance is between 9,500 ohms and 10,500 ohms.

I'm not sure what the resistance range is for this particular sensor, but I'd guess that your resistor tolerance is probably not the issue.

1/2 watt and 1/4 watt refer to the amount of power (in watts) that the resistor is designed to dissipate. A 1/2 watt resistor can handle twice the power that a 1/4 watt can handle without failing. I'm not familiar with this particular sensor, but I'm pretty sure that it is a low power circuit and a 1/4 watt resistor is sufficient.

My guess would be that you have poor connectivity between the leads of the resistor and the plug connector. Sometimes you can fold the leads back to get a wider mating surface, but crimping or soldering will always make a more reliable connection than press fitting. It could be that vibration or surface contaminants are breaking the connection and causing the ecu to see an abnormally high resistance.

I could not get solder to stick for anything. So I used crimps and heat shrink to hold it still after getting crimped. So far so good. Maybe 20-30k miles.

I've been dealing with the P0401 code for about 5 months now. I have a FSM and tested the VSV and EGR and am tired of dealing with this code. I check my gas mileage often and normally get 20.5-21.0 mpg. This is the same mileage I was getting before the P0401 code came on.

I just ordered the LCE kit. I'll report back what mileage I get after the install. I hope to not have any of the odd issues that some folks have mentioned; overheating, reduced MPG, continued CEL.

I ended up not deleting the EGR. I discovered that when I blow into the bottom of the EGR modulator that air would pass into the upper chamber. I installed an OEM EGR modulator and cleared the codes. 350 miles later and not codes.

Yesterday I did this EGR delete (with a kit from LCE), as well as an LCE long tube header, K&N FIPK cold air intake, ran a 2½" hole saw thru the catalytic converter, and left the 2nd O2 unplugged.

I didn't have time to put the resistor on the EGR plug yet, but I will get to it in a couple days. I also need to do something with the coolant lines that went to the EGR.

By the end of the night I forgot to plug in the 2nd O2 when I test drove it. The truck ran great, I could definitely feel more power and quicker throttle response. When I realized the 2nd O2 wasn't connected, I pulled over and connected it. I could tell something wasn't right and when I got home the exhaust smelled gross. So naturally I unplugged it again, drove around all day today with no smell, and it was back to more power and throttle response. I will be getting more resistors for the O2 cuz I won't be plugging it back in.

This may be the wrong thread for this, but I literally just created this account when I saw this. I bought a 99 Tacoma a few weeks ago, and unbeknownst to me the previous owner deleted the EGR system (found out 30 mins after buying it when the CEL came on).

While I do know about the resistor fix, I'd like to keep my truck as stock as possible. Would any of you Chad's who deleted your EGR wanna sell me your system?
