    Hi,
I've been having an issue with my 2.7 (even before the extreme temps now), the belt will squeal for a few seconds upon the first start of the day ( I could guess condensation can cause that) but it will also squeal when decelerating (when cold, almost non existent when its warm out). When I replaced the belts I cleaned all the pulleys and adjusted the belts so they are a tiny bit loose (not to wear bearings). the 90 deg method doesn't make sense as the tension is different across the various sections between the pulleys.
    Any suggestions?

Run it a little bit tighter, and try a Continental Elite belt. These belts used to be the Goodyear Gatorback belt, and have grooves cut across as well as lengthwise. I have found them to be a good belt to use when you have a slight misalignment issue or other minor problem that causes other belts to squeal on a cold/damp start-up.

X2 on buying the higher priced belts the cheap ones will stretch fast.
You might try tightening them a hair so the dont squeal.

I like to get v belts tight enough that they dont really flop around but also loose enough that I can grab the belt in a spot with a good distance between two pulleys and turn the inside of the belt to the outside. You should be able to twist it like that and it not be so loose that it's easy but not so tight that you cant twist it by hand. If that even makes sense. They normally dont squeal then and you wont have to replace your alternator in three months.
