Doesn't look like his MAF housing is the right diameter

Yea I stepped mine down to a 2 inch pipe. That might be where I went wrong. I might have to run piping the same size as stock then neck down on both sides like madtaco did.

You can step the piping around the MAF housing down but the housing itself must be the right diameter and ideally there should be a straightener in front of it. Stupid old things are very picky. I wish we could use speed density metering

Yea I’ll have to build another where it sits into a 3 inch diameter pipe. What is the straightener you guys are talking about? Just kind of a like a strainer from what madtaco posted? Have never heard of this until now.

You might think of cannibalizing your stock maf housing to make it, it is chambered to make the meter read properly, and you'll notice the stock housing has a piece of mesh to straighten the airflow.

Diameter at the sensor is important. The rest doesn't matter.

This was how I had it before but I hated the look of it. Maybe it’s best that I just put that back on until I can make a housing comparable to stock.

Might have to order that and give it a shot. Looks better than what I had before. That otta put it back to somewhat normal size.

We should have asked, "What was the last thing you did or changed, before you started having this issue...."

We'd have jumped straight here, on page one. Lol.

Well I had started having the idle problem before I changed the intake so I had thought the idle and load issue was correlated. I’m about to go out to swap that intake and see what I come up with. Yea I should’ve thought about that quicker lol I appreciate the help in finding my own stupidity

So I put the old one back on and it idles with a load reading around 23%. I think it’s just a tune issue now. It idles for a little while at about 15.5:1 then slowly leans out and will stumble. I might have this figured out now. Been chasing this for 2-3 weeks now. Could be real close to some winter wheeling! I know it’s not a taco but I figured I’d show what I’m working on. Had it since I was 15 and it’s been my project ever since.

    That truck

So MAF tube swapped back to stock, and vacuum hoses rerouted, with good results.

What psi, do you plan on running, as trying to get a general idea of the power being made?

Clean up the tune, and seriously consider a bigger fuel pump.

Are you running stock injectors or larger?

I had it running at 6 pounds but it was lean under boost. Im gonna get a good tune and start low and work my way up. I’d be extremely happy with 7-8 pounds. I’m running stock injectors and stock pump. I planned on going with the walbro 255 pump very soon. Injectors i’ve been doing some research to find what I wanna run. I’ve seen a lot of guys running the pink top injectors with very good results. What would you recommend? I’m still a noob to this 3rz turbo stuff but I’m slowly catching on

Definitely need the pump and injectors. I'll leave the rest to the experienced 3rz folks.

Larger injectors will need tuning. To understand what size you need, depends on the engine hp goal your after. Then you follow the formula to figure that out.

The larger the injectors, the better tuning solution you'll need.

Yea I figured with injectors came more tuning. I’m up for that. I appreciate the knowledge and ideas
