No open/close sensor on our tailgates. Shouldn't be a problem.

Not sure how valuable the tailgate open feature would be to me personally. But I just traded in my 2016 Avalon for a new Tacoma. Attached is what my Avalon key looks like. Would one of these be able to be programmed to a Tacoma? That would give you the extra trunk pop button/signal (maybe)

DAMN DANIEL!!!! (read in an asian voice, hopefully this isn't just an inside joke with my friends hahaha)

Now here's a ANOTHER item I must have for my truck. How many times I'm fully loaded in arms trying to get something in the bed and need to stop to open it.

Just a little update here. Still in development to "mass produce". Built a prototype using a 4 relay module, that functionally works correct. However realized I am using too small of gauge for the amperage that the actuator requires (5A). Measured voltage at the actuator and was seeing a 13% drop, meaning the actuator wasn't getting full power and wasnt pulling full strength. Going to have to rethink how I do the connectors coming off of the enclosure. There are two 4 pin jsts coming off. One for the push button and interlocks and one for power, gnd, etc.

Keep in mind in the pics this is just a proto. End goal is to be as PNP as possible and as easy for me to make as possible (I'm Lazy in a good way).

Anyways I'm designing it to have the interlocks of (IF IGN is on THEN IF PARK is on then Send Signal ELSE STOP) mostly for the push button. If you dont want the push button Ill have it to where you can use just 3x unlock only without having to run the extra jst harnes. Doing this all with relays and have the schematic right and tested out. Just need to solve the voltage drop issue back to the actuator.

The enclosure is done for the 4 relay module but it is pretty big, and its somewhat of a rats nest of wires inside. It tucks up pretty nicely behind the passenger side footwell trim but I think I am going to go the custom PCB route for ease of manufacture. Its a pita to wire up that thing. Already had a prototype board made, but going to have to somewhat redesign it. Some text was missing, one wirepad was off and not pretty, need to open a few holes, and I didnt account for the output being 5 amps, meaning Ill have to widen the trace width on the output. First time designing a custom pcb, its pretty awesome. (I may be a nerd)

The actuator mount has been finished and @KTJO 4x4 has added the outputs I need to make this happen in her harness. Just gotta finish the brains :)

Close. Got new pcb boards coming in on Wednesday. Hoping to finish up the final prototype this weekend.

@KTJO 4x4 is done on her end. Just got some things to wrap up on mine then it will be ready.

Nice. I played around with a new F150 that didn't have a tailgate latch in the back it only released by pressing the button on the key fob. Kinda dumb IMO not to have a mechanical way as well. If this guy finally gets the soft open tailgate done for the 2nd gen this would be cool to add not sure how to adapt it to our fob though.

Suggestion for harness. BK is ground bolt for Tailgate Open solenoid.

Damn, this is nice. Also crazy quality with custom PCB's and all. I have the PNP Pop and Lock kit but I haven't installed it yet. @DSIM Should I hold off on Pop/Lock install to save on time/labor when I hopefully add this kit, or is this going to be set up that I could easily just pop the tailgate cover back off, add a little bit, and be good to go? Cant decode exactly what all you're integrating with KTJO 4x4's kit.
