Honestly, if you still dont understand after reading all these posts, looking at the picture, and looking at your truck....you shouldnt be working on any vehicle.

Take it to a professional or dont touch it at all.

I know you guys were just messin, but it makes it to where newer people don't want to ask question when you mock them and crack jokes about it. No big, I got mine off and it was BLACK!! Clean as can be now!! Thanks for the diagram :)

I cleaned mine this weekend. Here are some pics to show how dirty it was. For my air filter I have a K&N CAI if that would make a difference.

I cleaned the TB and inside the black piece that it attaches to

I just did the same thing. Mine looked exactly as yours did. I really didn't notice any increase in performance yet. Did you?

Mine was the same too, I wonder if the previous owner of my truck didnt have a k&n intake as well. You wont really notice a performance boost, but you will be getting cleaner air into your engine, which I believe should result in cleaner oil. I changed my spark plugs at the same time and I noticed a little increase in how well my truck ran.

no gains, I took my k&N off and went back to my stock intake at the same time. I can actualy hear my flowmaster now...haha Before all i could hear was my intake.
I do need to replace my plugs though, not looking forward to doing that

Very true. when I did mine, I couldn't get the hose off of the rear side of it easily so i just held it there and cleaned both sides of the butterfly. It wasn't too dirty, but I don't have k&n oil to deal with. Still glad I did it.

I poped off one of the hoses attached to it and coolant started to come out! so I put it back on real quick. I just undid the 4 bolts and did it with both of the hoses atached.

For anyone who is planning on doing this, if you have old spark plugs laying around they plug the coolant lines perfectly.

Thanks for this post. Good suggestion, very easy, and now a smoother idle. 69K and it was pretty dirty.

It's not necessary if you are only cleaning the TB...
